Man, really wish we could've traded for Steven Jackson

I agree... I was praying for a combo of Jackson/Maggette/Wright/Randolph...

This has been discussed already. His contract increases every year, and it ends when he's 35 years old already. Suffice it to say DM won't touch it with a ten foot pole, and neither should any self respecting GM (i.e. not MJ).

shoot, i'd take him over ariza in a heartbeat, who care's about his production when he turns 35, the guy still is in his prime, the dude's 10x better than overhyped ariza.

The team that has to pay him according to his contract will care what his production is when he's 35. Unless it's the piece to put you over the top for a championship, trading for players with long-term, bad contracts is not wise.

It's a huge risk.. but some players still are very productive past 35. Nash is there right now and he is still as good as ever. MJ was still awesome at 37.

I was all for a Rox/SJAX trade and was pulling for it but looking at it now it would have been a mistake, desperation move and would have crippled the squad a few years from now.

    1) its cares

    2) he's in his prime now. If you think he'll still be in his prime when he's already 35 you're on crack

    3) Ariza is 2 million cheaper than S-Jax right now. In three years, he'll be 7 million cheaper and in his prime while S-Jax will be 35 and earining close to 14 million dollars.

Good God, there seems to be quite a number of S-Jack fanboys here. Why don't you take a look at his contract first, think of how old he is now and how old he will be when his contract ends, then ask yourself if its worth committing that much money on a low percentage chucker when there are many other guys who are way better but make much less than he does. S-Jax is a good player, but his salary isn't proportional to his production.

So you're taking a huge risk for S-Jack? What if your gamble fails and we end up with a washed up S-Jack making double digits? Even if your gamble succeeds we'd still end up with current S-Jack, who is no where near the top swingmen in the league.

Nash singlehandedly changed PHX and is responsible for 90% of the success they have there, and so is worth the risk. S-Jack will never be able to carry a team the way Nash does, so the comparison fails because the reward isn't equal to the risk you're taking.

A broken down 35 year old S-Jack is still better than an Ariza in his prime and also a very huge expiring contract.

Dude's good now, but he's getting older and under contract for a few more seasons at a high price.

As the saying goes In Morey I Trust. I think there are better things out there than Stephen Jackson. I would rather go for youth more than anything. But if this was two years ago I would've been all for it! Shoot even last year SJax/Ron/Yao could have done some damage but not this year. Only a few names would fit into what we are looking for i.e. Andre Iguodala!

Surprised Kwame hasn't shown up yet, but yeah no, we don't want him. Nice short-term move, dumb as hell long-term move.

At that point, if his production is in decline, won't somebody still want the value of his expiring contract?
