Rented this last night. I totally get why it was on so many reviewers' Top Ten 2008 Movie lists. I highly recommend it. Its not just a documentary about a crazy Frenchman who walked a tightrope between the Twin Towers; its also a caper flick. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1155592/ Also, its only an hour and a half long. Gotta love that.
I saw this thing getting all those great reviews. Read the summary and was like F this. I just don't get it. But if enough CF-ers recommend it Ill probably give it a try.
way way way overrated. was a decent documentary at best. no big deal at all. the best doc that i saw in '08 was "Surfwise", and i highly recommend it. posted a thread about it awhile back. check it out.
i saw it recently too. loved it. best doc of the year... and even people who dont like docs will like this.
Just got done watching this and was blown away by it. It was so many different things rolled into one. A documentary, a caper, a drama, a love story, and even a tragedy Spoiler how his new found fame tore his friendships apart Semi-spoiler... Spoiler I love how they ended the film with Phillipe's quote about how you have to "live on the edge of life...walk the tight rope". One of the better films I've seen in a while.
I watched it this weekend as well. I agree with your review. As a person who is terrified of heights I was blown away.
