AUSTIN, Texas, May 12 -- A half-drunk man at a sports bar said today that Tracy McGrady choked away the Houston Rockets' seven-game playoff series with the Dallas Mavericks. He also said that former Los Angeles Lakers coach Phil Jackson would soon land in Houston as the Rockets' new coach, replacing Jeff Van Gundy. The man added that Rockets center Yao Ming would nevertheless depart for Los Angeles to play for the Lakers once his rookie contract expires. The man pointed out that McGrady had never won a playoff series and had lost 19 straight games as a member of the 2003-2004 Orlando Magic. Noting that the Rockets had won the first two games of this year's series against the Mavericks, the man said that the burden was on McGrady to win the series but that he "choked." The man observed that Van Gundy has never won an NBA championship and cited rumors that Jackson, who sat out the 2004-2005 season after the Lakers lost the 2004 NBA finals, might be interested in coaching the Rockets if a six-year contract in the "low nine figures" were offered. Regarding Yao, the man reported that according to a web site described to him by a friend, a reporter for a local television station recently quoted several sports commentators speculating that the Chinese center would soon leave Houston and sign with the Lakers to increase his marketability and shorten his commute.
not that i agree with one word of this but, i wouldnt be mad about hiring PJ and tex. JVG grew on me this year but PJ has won 9 championships. yao said himself that he wants to stay here as long as we want him. tmac didn't "choke." he was the only player on our team that played great every game. yao played average, and sura played through injuries. deke, james, and JB played well too. bowen played better than expected. the only players that didnt show up for the playoffs were wesley and padgett.
WHY ARE WE STARTING A THREAD BASED ON A DRUNK MAN'S OPINION? I DIDN'T READ YOUR PARGRAPH AS SOON AS YOU SAID: "THIS IS WHAT I HEARD FROM A DRUNK MAN" COME ON MAN, YOU CAN DO BETTER
This is a joke. I guess a few of y'all don't read The Onion or other satire news sources. Not hilarious, but pretty funny. Don't let people who don't understand satire and irony discourage posts like this.
LHutz? If I was at that sports bar, here's the headline you would've wrote Man at sports bar choked by McGrady fan
