Since I live in Sacramento, and naturally am a Kings fan, the news that Joe and Gavin Maloof will brave the luxury tax without cutting any of the Kings players is a huge relief. I only hope that any financial hit they might take would not compel them to sell the team, as they are easily the best owners Sacramento has ever had, not to mention some of the best in the league (except perhaps Mark Cuban of the bottomless pockets).

Now I can't wait until next year to see how good the Kings are. I'm bored out of my skull, since the Monarchs (WNBA) have just dropped the ball after being 2nd in the league last year, albeit 3 of their starters and two of their all-stars are injured. They cannot possibly make the playoffs now :(.

PS: Funny how Howard-Cooper says Vlade is the 2nd best center in the West. Then I thought about it, and it was like, well, David Robinson is the only other one. Kind of sad, huh? There aren't any good centers anymore.

Wow, I'm impressed. We're not talking about going over by a million or two. We're talking a cool ten million. That's rough if your name's not Mark Cuban or Paul Allen.

I think it'll pay off for sure. Not only will it generate all that extra revenue because everyone will want the Bibby merchandise since his playoff heroics but they have a legit shot at the title next year. They won't be sorry they did this unless he gets injured or somthing crazy like that.

Well, it will be all for naught, as LA will rule the roost anyhow.

The Kings need to actually IMPROVE the team, not just merely retain the team to get past LA. Relying on LA to falter, won't win anything,

Rule the roost? IMO, a few more made free throws and a healthy Peja would have changed that this past WC Finals. Had Vlade made his FT's, Horry's shot would not have mattered except to alter the final score.

Dick Bavetta on the injured list wouldn't hurt things next year either. :D

As good businessmen, I'd say the Maloofs know where that bottomline is and as close as they were this year it's a good gamble. You just don't get that close that often.

Exactly GATER...had the Kings simply made one more free throw in game 7, the Lakers would be making up excuses about Shaq's injury.

Yes kidrock8, but the Lakers may not have their MVP next year (Dick Bavetta), so anything can happen!:D

There's a little thing called Chemistry that will make the kings better. Bibby has only been on the team for 1 year. The more experience he gets playing with the kings the better the team will be, especially since he's the PG. By just keeping the team together they are improving.

That is a no-brainer. I want to know if the Maloofs will keep the team intact next year if they lose to the Lakers again.

I'll bet you anything the Kings suffer some kind of catastrophic injury next year that keeps them from returning to the kind of play they had this year.

If the luxury tax turns out to be a phantom, they probably will. But if that thing hits them, they're going to have to lose someone. Even though I live in Sac and that would suck, I couldn't possibly blame them if that happens. They're being pretty damn nice already.
