    Hawks Sign Matt Maloney

    Matt Maloney
ATLANTA, GA, Nov. 21, 2002 -- With the injury to rookie guard Dan Dickau (slight cartilage tear, left knee), the Atlanta Hawks signed Matt Maloney to a contract this afternoon, according to VP/General Manager Pete Babcock. The transaction places Dickau on the injured list.
A five-year veteran, Maloney did not play in the NBA last season and last played for the Hawks during the 2000-01 campaign. He saw action in 55 games that year, averaging 6.7 ppg and 2.8 apg, shooting 42.0-percent from the field.

In 281 career games, Maloney has posted 7.7 points and 3.0 assists per game.

I still remember that crazy shot he took in 97. Maloney was near the foul line and just hurled the ball in. It was such a ridiculous shot. I was in tech class talking about it with a kid who just moved from Houston.

Hell, if they're desperate enough to play Maloney then surely we can con-vince them into taking Moochie Norris

I guess he needed to get an actual job for when the Rockets gravy train runs out...

At this point, I think Matt Maloney would be an improvement on Moochie. I don't remember Maloney making foolish fouls or dribbling forever. Plus we pay him less. :)

Actually, my buddy is pals with Maloney (back from freshman year at Vandy before Maloney transferred) and he says that Maloney took the option of having the Rockets pay him over 10 years instead of the 5 remaining in his contract.

So the gravy train still chugs along.

However, capwise he's only under the cap as long as his contract runs....

i'd take matt maloney over moochie.

I think Matt Maloney knows how to dribble, and then pass the ball to an open man.
