"He hates me," Malone said, "because he's a fat *** and can't play anymore. So he be hating everybody, that's what it is. "I hold him in very high regard," Malone added. "I just hope you guys write it and it gets back to him. ... He didn't work out, so he's in the studio now. I'm still playing, so I think he hates that. Every time he gets an opportunity, he says, 'Old guy.' I don't know if he's 40 yet. But I wonder what he's going to look like when he's 40." http://www.dailynews.com/Stories/0,1413,200~29583~2151655,00.html
I'd have to say Malone had the better career. Now, I want to see Barkley "weigh in" on Malone's comments (so to speak).
I some what agree with Malone, although you can't really say Barkley's downfall was his refusal to get in shape. Barkley used to be my favorite player when I was really young, but some of the things he said off the court and the way he handled himself started to turn me off to him. But he still had a Hall of Fame career. Its not like how Shawn Kemp wasted away. Barkley was still effective up until the age when most players drop off. If Karl Malone expects every player to last as long as he has, he has very high expectations. I'm no fan of Malone, but what he has done in the last five seasons considering his age is fairly amazing.
Barkley retired because of an all but career ending injury. Even if he did come back from it healthy, he would have never been able to play the same. He probably could still play in the league if he had been able to stay healthy, but I doubt he would have. He has too much pride to join a team just for a ring. Malone is only around for the ring and the scoring record. If he wasn't close to either, he would have retired like Stockton.
Barkley is jealous. I remember when someone told him their top 5 PFs in league history, Malone was first and Barkley didn't even get a mention. Barkley then goes on ranting that if he had Stockton, he'd also be the greatest PF in history. LOL
I believe it was Bill Russell or Wilt Chamberlain who was asked whether Charles Barkley belonged in the top fifty player of all time list. This was a couple of season ago when the NBA celebrated its 50th anniversary. Bill or Wilt replied that Charles should be considered top five players of all time. What he did in the paint being 6'4 is absolutely freakin amazing. The man is barely taller then Cuttino Mobley and was a one man wrecking crew in the paint. I highly doubt he is jealous of that a-hole Malone.
As much as I hate his antics off the court, you haven't seen Barkley play unless you watched him on a fast break early in his career. You talk about run and hide, you absolutely didn't want to be in the way of a 6'4" inch bowling ball moving like a locomotive with one objective : ram the ball down somebody's throat and rip the rim down with it. He truly was remarkable. Karl Malone.... whatever. Jokester couldn't win a championship with arguably one of the 3 or 4 best PG's to play the game and one of the best teams of the decade, so he rides piggyback on Kobe's and Shaq's back to get one. At least Stockton had the guts to hang 'em up.
Malone is an ass and has no credebility as far as I'm concerned. It really pisses me off this THUG ******* might get a ring.
Barkley was arguably the most effective player, and at least the second most effective player on the team when he was traded to the Rockets. He didn't come to be the fourth best starter, a mediocre role player who just manages to fill the shoes of a past his prime Robert Horry. Bark averaged 19.2 points and 13.5 rebounds his first year in Houston. The year his career ended, he was still getting 14.5 and 10.5, and that includes the games he went down with the injury and the game he came back and got 2 points a 1 rebound (before the injury it was more like 16 and 11). Malone averaged 13.2 points and 8.7 boards this year for the Lakers. It is not even close to the same situation.
any enemy of Malone is a freind of mine. _______________ hey Karla, you's a beat rida a posh style taker i tell it to your face, you aint **** but a Faker
