How is he doing? Is he still playing ball in Germany? I wonder when he will make it to the NBA or play in the Summer League. I'd like to see what he is capable of doing.
It doesn't look like he had very much playing time. >>Link Here<< Current stats on the right. I did a google search on him and found a message board that appears to be players looking for an agent or a job. Weird The thread "We need players"
If Malick Badiane can guard Kevin Garnett, let's fly him in for tonight's game. Someone other than Yao Ming should try to bother Kevin Garnett going to the basket.
whew....I was getting worried; nobody had started a malick badiane thread for like 6 weeks and I thought something might be wrong.
Which is why I didn't post a link to the last thread that has a link to another one which happens to have a link to the previous thread.
Looks like he is going to need at least one more year of "seasoning" before he becomes our designated 12th man/scrub. Has he been practicing his towel waving???
His number don't look particularly encouraging at this point: # PLAYER ----- SP MPG 2G% 3P% FG% FT% OFF DEF RPG APG PF SPG TO BPG PPG EFF BADIANE, Malick 22 16:48 55.6 0.0 55.6 39.5 1.5 3.5 5.0 0.2 2.4 0.2 0.9 1.0 3.0 6.5 You can see that this kid is still very raw. He's shooting less than 40% from FT line (ouch). I think that he's still a couple of years away from this level.
You do know that per Les's instructions roster spots 11 and 12 are reserved for white players only...
Please take your lament to the NAACP or KKK, whichever is your preference. Racism is not relevant or welcome here. Thanks.
His offensive numbers may not be that impressive, but I think he might still be able to help out defensively if what I read was true; 6'11" tall with a 7'4" wingspan and 30-something vertical leap. Get him here and let him ride the pine. At least he's learning JVG's system, learning better English, and learning the game from Ewing and Yao.
If he can't stand out on his German team he'll never make it on the Rockets. He's just another roll of the dice on a 2nd round draft pick that failed. No biggie.
6.5ppg and 5rpg with a block for 16mpg is not that bad. He shot 55.6% from the field too. Only thing that looked bad was his FT shooting. He is only like 19 or 20 years old I think. I would not write him off as a 2nd round miss just yet.
From what I previously heard, he doesn't get much PT because his current coach would rather build long term players. As soon as Malik starts playing well, he leaves the team to go back to the U.S.
