If this is true then it would be a nice purchase. Imagine playing X Box Rainbow Six 3 with a screen size from the ceiling to the wall! Don't know how legit it is, but if you scroll down after clicking on the seller's ebay store site, you can find it at $7.95.

I don't see the TV in the picture of the living room. I have done experiments in physics class before involving focal points and concave and convex lenses. The images produced through the lens was sharp, but IIRC the light source we used in class was vastly superior to the light emitted from a television set. The 6.5x lens as advertized will emit a lot of light. Maybe it is worth a try.

If it's too good to be true, it probably is.

    We had a discussion about it on alt.tv.frasier -- <a href="http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&threadm=c65e1c0a.0312011355.6a5c2e74%40posting.google.com&rnum=1&prev=/groups%3Fq%3Dprojector%2Bgroup:alt.tv.frasier%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8%26oe%3DUTF-8%26group%3Dalt.tv.frasier%26selm%3Dc65e1c0a.0312011355.6a5c2e74%2540posting.google.com%26rnum%3D1">Here's the thread</a>.

They go on to say that the word is that the picture sucks.

Notice that you can't see your TV that you're using to project the image in any of the screen shots.... Why? Because, honestly... a spare tv lying around somewhere that you have to "point" at your wall will take up quite a bit of space.

People will be wondering why you have a TV sitting on the floor next to your couch. While the image might look decent on the wall, the random placement of the TV takes away from that.

Of course, I think this would be ideal for dorm rooms and apartments, where nobody cares what is on the ground.

It would be cool if it was like a rear projector lens. So that your tv and the lens etc, was hidden behind the screen. Kind of like a rear projection tv. Ofcourse one problem would arise....who would you change the channel etc.

Let us know how it goes. This goes to all of you who invest in this. I am tempted, but it sounds too good to be true. I have a perfect room for it in my apartment. (if I get it) I want to hear some honest reviews first, from trusted (or semi trusted ;) ) CC.net BBS'ers.

I can't believe anyone would fall for this.

Some things to think about: the product they're selling is a "lens". But do ya notice that they don't show a picture of the lens anywhere? ALWAYS avoid sales pitches where they don't even show you the product.

Let's also think about something else... A computer projector has lenses in it. In order to make a decent image, it has to push a TON of light through that lens. This light is measured in lumens, and that's why projector bulbs are so expensive. Lesser expensive, lower-lumens projectors are dim and are hard to see. You can't just put a lens in front of a TV and expect it to present nearly enough light for it to be viewable at all. You'll just get a dim, distorted image.

For your money, you'll get a small piece of plastic which should cost about twleve cents, and a CD/video. Ripoff.

TechTV reviewed a similar product here:
    http://www.techtv.com/screensavers/products/story/0,24330,3506019,00.html

unfortunately, the article ends with a teaser to watch their show.

I was also wondering if anyone actually went and bought this. I wanted to know how it went. I don't trust it, BUT I wanted to hear if anyone bought it and what they think......
