I'll start. - The Spurs will not finish in the top 4 in the West at the end of the season. - Neither Kobe nor LeBron will win the MVP next year. - The Rockets will not suffer any major injuries from any of their main players ( ), allowing them to secure the top spot in the West. - The NBA Finals will matchup the Houston Rockets vs Philadelphia 76ers. The games will be ugly, 75-70 games, with the Rockets winning in six. There will be blood. - The New York Knicks will lock up the 8 seed in the East. - Carmelo Anthony will end up being traded after all, before the deadline. Your turn.
Eh...not really a good idea to do this in a rocket board, as everyone will probably say rockets champ 08-09.
Especially when there is another thread with 70+ replies on the same subject that was started two days ago. Most of the predictions are quite reasonable. IBTL http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=153327
I put it in NBA Dish so the bold predictions aren't necessarily related to the Rockets. Greg Oden will end up being a total bust, as Blazer fans regret not drafting Kevin Durant.
I actually don't think ESPN's predicted NBA standings have anything to do with this thread. Also "reasonable" is almost the opposite of "bold". I think only one out of the Mavs and Suns make the playoffs.
These bold predictions don't have to be specifically about NBA team seedings, it can be about anything. That was the point. And like snc just said, they don't have to be "reasonable". This is supposed to be entertaining more than anything. - O.J. Mayo will win ROY. - The NBA will lose further credibility as it is confirmed that multiple referees were involved in fixing games.
I used to believe just like you but I'm not so sure now. It is very very doubtful Oden will be a bust unless injuries take him down. His physical ability will take him a long way in the NBA. I'm still a huge fan of Kevin Durant and he is one of my favorite players in the NBA. The guy is destined for greatness.
Yao Ming will become a US Citizen and will play for the in London 2012. Tmac will not finish his contract with the Rockets. He'll play in MLB. Jeff Van Gundy will finally get a wig. Mark Cuban will buy and own all Texas basketball teams. Commie Stern will publicly admit that he's dating an nba player.
Greg Odens become the newest Kwame Brown Ron Artest makes the all-star team instead of that guy who wears #1 for us Blazers don't make the playoffs. Nuggets will completely suck, and George Karl will get fired midseason. The Suns will not win 50 games, therefore making Steve Kerr a dumbass who should go back to broadcasting. The Spurs will get be injuried ala Houston Rockets 2005-2006 and will never be the same, marking the end of the Spurs era. Brent Barry hits a critical shot in the playoffs for Houston. The Thunder will have better attendance than the Rockets despite sucking the whole year.
Jason Kidd wins a ring, and trades it to recover his gold medal, because an Olympic gold medal is most important than a NBA ring. LOL The lakers will lose in the first round of the playoffs the rockets are the only team in the west to win 60 games in the season
I'm thinking Spurs here. Manu is already hurt. They are a Tim Duncan injury away from falling off the map. They will miss the presence of the Mango Tree as well.
The Heat reach the Eastern Confrence Finals The Spurs fall into mediocrity Greg Oden doesn't become the next Kwame Brown Chris Paul wins MVP More referee scandals
Donte Greene gets ROY Detroit doesn't get home court first round Portland still doesn't make the playoffs Boston does not make the finals Dwyane Wade gets MVP Carl Landry actually signs with the Rockets
Awards: MVP - Paul Dpoy - Artest ROY - Beasley COY - Carlisle 6Man - Stuckey Surprises: *Mavs finish 5th in the west *Cavs and Sixers finish with better record than the Magic. * Bucks return to playoffs.
Nuggets miss the playoffs, and George Karl either quits or is fired midseason. Wait, I guess that isn't too bold a prediction.
Alot of these predictions are pretty accurate and safe. Oden could be (might not be) the "next" Kwame Brown Nuggets have good chance of not making the playoffs. Kobe or Lebron, not leading the league scoring, especially Kobe, since LA has other options now. The Lakers losing in 1st Round, I thought at first was ridiculous, but when I thought about it is very possible with injuries, or even the right matchup (against a team like the Suns, Trailblazers, or even the Rockets). If they fall to 3 or 4th in West, then they have good chance of meeting a very tough team in the first round. I could see the Magic being worse this year, while teams like the Bucks, Wizards, 76ers, and Heat get better. My predictions: The west will be crazy again, there will be at least 7 teams who win over 50 games. Possibly, two squads who win over 60. Celtics will not come out of the East again, I think they get to the conference finals, but run into a younger, lighter-foot team sort of like the Hawks (or 76ers). The OKC team will not be in Oklahoma City very long, probably no more than 6 seasons. Actually, I think this season will be very sleepy and somewhat uninteresting until the last 2 weeks and the playoffs will start very slow, but end with a big bang. I think Dwayne Wade will lead the league in scoring and be this year's MVP.
