ESPN Insider (the pay site that took over NBATalk) is reporting today that the Jazz may start shopping Karl Malone, if Stockton decides to retire. Suprisingly, they list Houston as one of several possible landing sites. I know we probably have the cap room to take on Malone (especially if we sent role players or picks in the trade), and he would fill a hole at power forward, but would the Rockets want to take on an aging player? It doesn't seem to fit with the Rockets youth movement. ------------------

I remember this coming up a year or two ago and Rudy said that he liked Malone. ------------------ Gotta love the Rocket Guy
OOOOOUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Sorry, an exceedingly large mud loving bovine creature flew out from my posterior. ------------------
A new idea for the beer commercial where hell freezes over!!!!!!!! No way in hell this can happen. We would be booing our own player at EVERY home game. ------------------
Rocks2k1, that was funny. I would rather sign the devil himself to a long-term contract than see Malone on the team. ------------------ I'm so amazingly cool you could keep a side of meat in me for a month. I am so hip that I have difficulty seeing over my pelvis.
I hear he has a better low post game, anyway. ------------------ I have just realized that the stakes are myself I have no other ransom money, nothing to break or barter but my life my spirit measured out, in bits, spread over the roulette table, I recoup what I can nothing else to shove under the nose of the maƮtre de jeu nothing to thrust out the window, no white flag this flesh all I have to offer, to make the play with this immediate head, what it comes up with, my move as we slither over this go board, stepping always (we hope) between the lines
I thought we already did that? It seemed like he signed for 6 years, 42 million or something like that... ------------------ "Basketball players win basketball games. Mad if we got the mailman could we sign stockton too then we could bring back mark eaton so we can have abunch of losers to go \against jordan and hakeem in washington?!!?!?! Rocket River ------------------
I have had the same birthday wish for the last four years........please let Stockton and Malone die in an unexplained car wreck. ------------------ "Chucky who? I thought we were talking about basketball?" Charles Barkley
It would be pretty ironic if he came here and we won a championship. That would be sweet. Then that would prove it wasn't Malone, just the stinkin Utah Jazz. Yes, I would sell my soul for a championship. ------------------
JBC,my lazy friend, First I have to TOTALLY disconnect my heart from this.....................................................ahh O.K. Now, on Karla the FLOPPER: His contract is up in two years 17,19 mil. He brings a low post and outside scoring prescence from the 4 which we need IMO if we're going to beat the Lakers. He is an enforcer inside which we need. Malone has very good passing skills. He gets a $hitload of calls...major respect from the refs. The guy will do anything to win games. Karl's work ethic is unequaled...He'll play well for awhile still. He would provide major leadership and become the #1 go to option probably, taking pressure off Stevie and Cat while opening up the court more..hmmm My questions about this are: How could we swing a deal for him and not destroy the cap?..Who would we be able to surround him with if we did this? If he comes here we sure as heck better have a great defensive center. Actually,it's freaky, but I'd probably go for it,if the Rockets put that center next to him. ------------------ If I had my life to live over,I would have liked to have ended up as a sportswriter - Richard M. I'd take him, for the shear pleasure of then shipping him to Toronto where Vince will never pass him the ball, and Oakley won't be able to resist the urge to step on him everytime he flops.
These are sad times on the CC.net BBS when someone suggests something as ridiculous as trading for our most hated player. As Mama Boucher would say, "Karl Malone is the Devil." ------------------ "Oh No..." -Bill Walton in 97 just before Stockton's buzzer beater
I'm constantly amazed at the passionate anti-Jazz sentiment found here. Karl Malone has killed the Rockets for years and years. Other than the occasional flop, he is an exemplary pro. Who works harder? He runs the floor. He hits the jumper. He would be a great but short-term solution. He would be a positive influence on our young team. Plus he's a redneck! Maybe he would help us keep Hakeem for a reasonable cost. ------------------ "How far you go in life depends on you being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak. Because someday you will have been all of these."
Seeing Karla in a Rockets uniform would make me vomit. The guy is a total phony- remember Hakeem: "Play good honest defense and try to stop me, but don't flop." ------------------ "Oh No..." -Bill Walton in 97 just before Stockton's buzzer beater
What better humiliation for Karl Malone then to put him in one of our jerseys??? Kills us capwise for a couple years, but he does provide what a lot of us on the bbs want in a player. But for the size of his contract and what i would want in return for KM if i were the JAZZ, now way in hell (...frozen or not) id trade for him! ------------------ President of MY fan club.
