Who would have thought? http://www.myfoxdc.com/dpp/news/dpgo_Report_Ahmadinejad_Has_Jewish_Roots_mb_20091003_3852254 Report: Ahmadinejad Has Jewish Roots Updated: Saturday, 03 Oct 2009, 3:12 PM EDT Published : Saturday, 03 Oct 2009, 2:40 PM EDT By MIKE BRODY (MYFOX NATIONAL) - Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the controversial president of Iran who has criticized Israel, questioned its right to exist and denied the Holocaust, may have a Jewish past. A report in the The Daily Telegraph says a picture of the Iranian president holding up his identity card during elections in March 2008 clearly shows his family has Jewish roots. Close-up images of the document reveal that he was previously known as Saburjian -- a Jewish name for a tailor. Saburjians traditionally hail from the Aradan region of Iran, which is where Ahmadinejad was born. The name is also on the list of reserved names for Iranian Jews compiled by Iran's Ministry of the Interior. His family reportedly changed its name to Ahmadinejad when they converted to Islam after his birth. In January, IsraelNationalNews.com reported that Mahdi Khazali -- the son of a leading supporter of Ahmadinejad -- wrote in a blog that Ahmadinejad had Jewish roots. The site said the revelation appeared in an article Khazali wrote entitled, "The Jews in Iran." It also says that he wrote the time has come to "reveal the truth" about the Jews' role in Iran. Among his many verbal attacks on the Jewish people over the years, Ahmadinejad has called for Israel to be "wiped off the map" and called Israel racist .
Every Muslim has non-Muslim roots at some point in time. It's just a matter of how far back a person is willing to go to make their point. In this, case, they didn't have to go very far back which made the story convenient. What does it matter anyway? Also, I've never heard of Ahmedinejjad verbally abusing Jews. He does for Zionist Israelis and the entity/state known as Israel, but that's very specific and those kinds of views are present even in the Jewish/Israeli community.
Interesting. They converted to Islam after his birth. It may have been a way to fit in with the majority. He had a much better chance at having a successful career by hiding his Jewish roots and changing names. It's like the immigrants that came to America and changed their names and religions to make better lives for their family. They don't build nuclear weapons, though.
For the record, there is less than a 0.1% chance that the conversion was 50-60 years ago. The media would have gotten a hold of it far easier.
So is Ahmedenijad a self-hating Jew or was he secretly sent out by the Mossad to send Iran down the path of self-destruction? Completely irrelevant to what is going on in Iran today, although perhaps it may explain his over the top rhetoric on Israel, maybe he feels the need to prove his loyalty given his family roots.
Mahmoud Ahmedinejad isn't the only high ranking Iranian convert. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Habibollah_Asgaroladi Asgaroladi is one of the "Principlists" who think Ahmedinejad is too liberal and too soft on Israel and the West.
the first thing i thought of when reading this was how the pacers sent isiah to NY to destroy the knicks
if you could prove this to be true, I'd be delighted to read your conclusive findings, because......without a doubt, you'd be the first person to do so.
He took the liberty of excluding himself and Jesus Christ from the laws defining what it was to be Jewish. Maybe that's a hint, but who knows for sure? Of course, he ultimately still said that Christianity was just the b*stard offshoot for Judaism and was too weak for his liking. He was a real sweet guy.
Hitler had a lot to hide when it came to his family. most evidence suggests that he's not jewish...... but as you stated though, who knows for sure?
according to "experts", they say he isn't jewish. HTML: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2009/oct/05/mahmoud-ahmadinejad-jewish-family
