No difference, they're still gonna get knocked out of the first round.

So they finally have a legit center. With Kristic next to him at the 4, they should be improved.

Magloire was a All-Star by default when the Hornets were in the East, and has been a good rebounder only at his peak. He's 29, but plays like he's 37. The guy makes Zydrunaus Ilguaskas look quick and athletic.

New Jersey's going to keep sliding out of contention, especially with Vince Carter no longer having contract concerns.

    Poor, conservative, management out there

In most cases it would be, but not in New Jersey's uptempo attack.

nice addition for them. he and kristic can provide the offence upfront with collins and williams providing defense.

i think this move will keep them in the playoffs at the very least. at most it gives them the potential to win a series or two.

They got out of the first round last year despite not having homecourt advantage. And they just got better so why would they be a lock not to get out of the first round this year?

Vince Carter never had contract concerns. He was making a boatload of money and wasn't originally going to opt out of his contract until having a run-in with management. Carter has been playing at a high level for 3 or 4 years while under contract.

Magloire should at least be an upgrade over Jason Collins. But New Jersey needs Kristic to be healthy more than anything.

Exactly. The Nets haven't done anything at all. They are just treading water and hoping a major injury doesn't hurt them this season. All 4 key players must be healthy when the playoffs start.

the key question is will Magloire even get over the half way line as Kidd make the alley-oop to Carter or RJ???

the dude is such a bad fit for there offense

I didn't know he was a free agent. I'd have expected more salivating on him in the GARM given how much some folks wanted him a couple of seasons ago.

I think Moore was better for them as well. To me Deke loos young and spritely compared to Magloire. But Kristic bouncing back is more important than either.

I guess enough people have watched him lately.

He's a good fit. Unlike the rest of that front line (Collins, Kristic), Magloire is a great rebounder. He is not very mobile and only an average offensive post player, but he can contribute offensively given that Jason Kidd will give him a few gimmes each game.

Jason Collins is an excellent defender, but lacking in a lot of areas.

He's 30 and was going into the final yr of his deal. Now he has guaranteed max money through his 34th birthday. He got security for the length of his career. VC being VC, I wouldn't count on his playing with inspiring motivation.
