Someone tell me this is a hoax, please.

BLAINE'S LATEST ILLUSION NOT FOR THE FAINTHEARTED: Magician David Blaine performed such a horrific, gory illusion at a taping of Carson Daly's late-night show that NBC is considering canceling the segment, reports the New York Post.

"Oh God, it was so gross -- David pulled his beating heart out of his chest, put it back in, and then collapsed," said an insider at the Wednesday taping.

"He had to be carried off the stage by some helpers. Some girls in the audience ran out crying and screaming, while Carson just stood there stunned and they blacked out the stage."

Ick. We think that's taking the reality TV thing a bit too far.

Blaine further irked network execs by pulling a vanishing act as soon as his bit was over.

"They couldn't find him anywhere," another source said. "They were ticked off that he just went missing -- they were worried about him."

A network spokeswoman denied the segment would be killed: "I haven't got any word of cancellation, so it should air Tuesday at 1:35 a.m."

Meanwhile, Blaine, who stood for 62 hours inside a giant block of ice in the middle of New York's Times Square last summer, is ready for his next stunt: standing for 36 hours atop a 90-foot column in Bryant Park, starting Tuesday.

Using my own magic skills, I am able to say that said segment will run Tuesday.

I haven't heard about the heart trick, but who knows with Blaine. He will be in New York City today actually, standing on top of a 90 ft high pole. He plans to stay up there for 35 hours. He has a show airing on ABC tomorrow night. At the end of the show they'll cut to him live at the top of the pole. At which point, he'll jump into a pile of corrugated cardboard boxes on the ground!

Apparently, he's practiced this jump from 80 feet up into an air mattress and he ended up fracturing some ribs. He's never done it from full height into the cardboard. I think he has the real potential for some serious injury.

Weren't they supposed to reveal how he did that standing in a block of frozen ice trick? Does anyone know how he did that one?

I saw it on Fox's Magic Secrets Revealed show. They said the temperature inside the block of ice was like 50-60 degrees. The heart monitor readings were fake, and so was the video being shown to people on TV monitors. Every 8 hrs or so, a man with dry ice would blow the ice (smoke), and in that split second, a double would come in from the floor, and the magician would go down to a bed with TV, bathroom, and food etc... They would take turns standing for the duration.

    Basically that's it.

I know magic is all slight of hand and tricks...with this in mind, does anyone know how he did the levitation thing? I saw it on TV last year I think. It seemed pretty cool.

That too was an illusion. There are 2 types of levitation he did.

    1) Stand sideways with a long pant leg. Use your back foot to push up while lifting your foot facing the audience. It gives the illusion your hovering a few inches above the ground because nobody can see that your back foot is still on the ground pushing you up. Anyone can do it with practice. The angle of the audience creates the illusion. This is the audience reaction you see.

    2) He then did a fake levitation using equipment. Even showing how fake it was afterwards. He's like two feet in the air.

They mixed the audience reaction in #1 with the footage of #2. Thus giving you the illusion that he was a god.

He got me, but that's what magic is, it's an illusion so he was only doing what all magicians do. Which is confuse us.

Same thing with the card in the window trick. Someone is already in the restauraunt with a deck of cards. When he shows the card to the patrons outside he's showing it to the guy in the restauraunt to. The guy then tapes the card onto the window. Blaines makes his toss of cards against the window and guess what, the card is stuck to the inside of the window. Wow. You can do this to your friends and amze them to.

I was on the uptown 6th Ave bus making deliveries today, when we got to 42nd Street, the intersection where Bryant Park is located.

They had police blocking traffic, the media was there, everybody was looking, and everybody in the bus was chattering about what was going off. I remembered this thread and looked up, and sure enough, there is that crazy dude standing on a f-ing flagpole, stopping traffic, and furthermore messing up my day.

Does anyone know how David Copperfield does his levitation? I remember seeing him flying around like a bird before. Or is he the freakin devil himself?

Just saw the heart trick. Seeing Carson Daly's expression was pretty funny. As for the trick, from the camera's view, it was obvious that he had a fake prosthetic chest that he could shove his hand in to pull out the fake heart. But I can see how, from the audience's view, it might have looked very, very real. It was a good fake chest.
