Here's a more in depth article. If someone could edit my first post with this one, that would be great... http://www.floridatoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080708/SPORTS/80708058/1002/SPORTS
I question this. But Pietrus would argue he had a personality conflict with Nellie and that's what held him back.
Pietrus is way overrated. Low basketball IQ and unimpressive numbers for a guy that nobody paid any attention to in an uptempo offense.
I, for one, am not upset that we didnt land Pietrus. Helluva athlete, not much else. to me, he's Battier-lite.
Wow, full mid-level exception for an underperforming, overhyped 3? The same position that they have two border-line all-star players at already? That's tuuurrrible.
Pietrus has a lot of potential, but the Magic definitely overpaid for him. Also why would the Magic invest so much money on Pietrus when they already have Hedo and R.Lewis who are the same type of player Pietrus is. I thought they would want to sign a pure outside shooter or a big body to play next to Dwight.
Why do you guys want Maurice Evans? He can't create his own shot and the Orlando Magic let him go although they were in dire need of something from the SG spot. Last season, the SG spot was his to lose in Orlando, and he did. Why are you guys really looking for him to come to Houston?
Evans is nowhere near the defender Pietrus is, and he's four years older. Bogans just isn't in his class on either end. That said, the full MLE? Otis Smith strikes again.
If Barry falls through. Which other vet swingman can the Rockets get for the LLE? Barry and Evans made under $2M last season.
Great signing, although Pietrus is lucky to get the full MLE. I wonder though if some some of their better performers had a flukey year. Turkoglu and Bogans in particular. I don't see Hedo having as good a year. What was it that led to his breakthrough? Rashard has to have a monster year for Orlando not to be an also-ran.
drafting courtney lee and signing pietrus... writing's on the wall for jj redick! time to get the hell outta there son!
