Mike Dunleavy Sr. offered to trade Corey Maggete for his son, Mike Jr. The Warriors turned this down since Mullin loves Mike Jr. and Maggete can't play defense.
Source? I wouldn't believe that until I saw a source. Who were the other players that the Clippers were gonna get for Maggette? And what happened to Elgin Baylor making trades instead of Dunleavy?
i think it would make the warriors a run and gun team - somewhat like the suns. claxton with j-rich and maggette...would be fun to watch.
If I were Baylor, I'd fire Dunleavey for even bringing this proposal up. Magette plays no D? And Dunleavey is the other guy you're talking about? Are you serious? Evan
If I was Mike Jr, I would HATE to be coached by my dad. Imagine how awkward that would be? Imagine how the other players would feel? Would Mike Jr then ever be traded after that with Mike Sr on the job? Just odd. As for Maggette and Dunleavy. I think Maggette is a much better player. Dunleavy is probably a better passer but that's it. I really love Maggette's game and his aggressiveness attacking the basket.
Why would the Clippers consider it? Because Dunleavy is a VERY smart player who will play inside himself, whereas Maggette is a player who takes a lot of risky shots, however, he is also very smart as a player, just plays a little more loosely. DD
I wouldn't do this trade because I don't think very highly of Dunleavy Jr. That said, Maggette is one of the most overated players in the league...he's the ultimate stat padder, takes shots outside the team's designed offense, doesn't do a thing to make his teammates better, thinks pass as his last resort, and is just not a winner... If I were the Clips, I'd trade him while people still haven't figured this out and still consider him an up and coming player with lots of promise...
