Dallas punked. http://blogs.chron.com/intune/2008/05/madonnas_sticky_and_sweet_tour.html Madonna, who last played Houston 18 years ago on her Blond Ambition Tour, is coming back to Houston. The pop diva's Sticky and Sweet Tour includes a Nov. 16 stop at Minute Maid Park. It's the only Texas date included amid the first round of performances. The tour kicks off in August in Cardiff Wales. Tickets range from $55-$350 and go on sale at 10 a.m. May 31 at livenation.com, ticketmaster.com, all Ticketmaster locations and at 713-629-3700. There is a six-ticket limit. Prices may seem steep, but a Madonna show is worth every penny. I've seen her last three tours, and they're nonstop spectacles of singing, dancing and immaculate staging. No one else comes close to that kind of pop power. The current tour name is taken from a lyric in Candy Shop, the kickoff track on Madonna's Hard Candy disc. This is the first major component of her decade-long, multi-million-dollar deal with Live Nation. It's been a banner year for the one-time material girl. Hard Candy, her 11th studio album, debuted atop the Billboard 200 this week with sales of 280,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It has also topped the chart in 26 other countries. First single 4 Minutes, featuring Justin Timberlake, earned Madonna her 37th top 10 hit, the most of any artist in the rock era. She was also inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Madonna opened the U.S. leg of her Blond Ambition trek in May 1990 at the Summit in Houston. But since then, all of her subsequent tour -- the Girlie Show, Drowned World, Re-Invention, Confessions -- have bypassed Texas. The 2006 Confessions Tour played in 25 countries and was the highest grossing concert tour of all time by a female artist. Current members of Madonna's longtime fanclub, Icon, will get first crack at tickets for Sticky and Sweet dates beginning Monday.
