Well I am starting to get excited about the NFL starting, and am thinking about buying a new football game for my GameCube. I know I will choose between ESPN Football or Madden, but I can't decide. So, I am sure some of ya'll out there own these games and I would like ya'll thoughts on the subject. Thanks.

The new Madden looks amazing. I'm going to definitely pick it up. Besides the gameplay, you can control everything about the teams from the cost of tickets and concessions to the hiring and firing of entire staffs of coaches. And, if you are successful on the field while remaining financially stable, you can build your own stadium to your specs. I love stuff like that!

I played both, and I would take Madden over ESPN. ESPN is still fun to play though, and the highlights or weekly wrap up thing are awesome.

you simply cannot go wrong here.

Sega will always dominate the NBA games though.

That pretty much says it. I still slightly favor Madden though.

i bought nfl 2k3 last year but went with madden this year. can't go wrong with either one. i'd like to try out the first person mode in espn football though.

as for basketball the 2k series pisses all over nba live.

I was playing madden online today and was in the same lobby room with Ricky Williams...

You can't get much more closer to the game folks...

    Madden forever.

And what's the proof it wasn't a fake? (I've never had the opportunity to play online, so please fill me in).

I've got Madden 2004 for pc and it is awesome. I love the management part of it. It really goes in depth. I'm not really a fan of footbal, but bought this game for the management features and it was worth every penny. I'll probably get NBA live 2004 for my PC, and pick up a copy of ESPN NBA 2k4 for my PS2. I know last year I just couldnt get into NBA live 2003 everytime I tried to play it. It had too much of a arcade feel. On the other hand, I played the hell out of Segas NBA 2k3. It just felt real playing it. I'll pick up both copies again this year hoping nba live is more on the simulation side like the previews suggest.

Sega didn't made ESPN for the GameCube, so you should probably go with Madden.

The New Owner Mode in Madden 2004 is unbelievable. Not only can you control the Tickets, concessions, advertising, and merchandise but you've got the power to higher and fire Head Coaches, Offensive/Defensive Coordinaters, and your Special Teams coach. You can also relocate your team to just about anywhere. Some cities want you to contribute more of your money than others. Sometimes they will reject your relocation package and you have to wait a whole year before you can try again. You have the choice of having PSL's or not. If you relocate your stadium will be practically empty for the following season until you make the move. If your proposal fails, your city still hears about it and they again won't show.

In regards to gameplay, the AI is a lot smarter this year. I play on All Pro as of right now, 1 difficulty below the hardest, and i can promise you if aren't the most accurate passer you're in for a long day of interceptions. I like to throw the quick slants to the middle, usually they work except when Brian Urlacher is hanging around. Also the defense gets to the QB very quickly leaving little time to sit in the pocket and wait like in previous years.

The one and only knock i have on the game is the amount of times i fumble the ball. Ricky Williams fumbled 4 times in a game for me once. It's not just him, this happens at least once a game.

i'd recommend this game. Nothing this year will be able touch it

ok.. I know this thread is LONG dead.. but I have a question for anyone who owns Madden 04 for PC.

Why can't you change the player rosters how you please?

Tony Bosselli is still on the Texans roster and there is no way to take him off.. Lawyer Milloy belongs on the Patriots.. Olandis Gary is on the Lions, Antonio Freeman on the Packers, ect ect ect..

I can't even figure out how to sign players.

Is there a way to do any of these things?
