Nearly up to the draft in my first season on Madden 2003, can anyone else who played give me some advice on some good players to draft, especially on defense, but also offensive line?? Thanks
OL -- Orlando Pace and Adam Timmerman play for a LONG time and retain a lot of skills. Timmerman was a pro-bowler for me for quite some time. Defense -- Well, Ray Lewis is one you should REALLY try to pick up, as he is at 99, and stays that way for a LONG time. He's good even up until his retirement. Some other good players to draft: Jake Plummer is an amazingly solid quarterback who can run okay. Michael Vick is good too, but Plummer tends to be a better passer, and he peaks higher than Vick (in my games at least). Bubba Franks is a must-get at TE. Todd Heap is a good alternative. Fred Taylor is awesome at RB, but if you end up putting RB off until later, Amos Zeroue is a really good choice.
I believe it's random Smeggy, so every draft class is different. Most of the scouting info is pretty useless imo, just go for the highest rated player(mostly indicated by round projection). Good speed and size never hurts tho.
Yeah, it's randomly generated so there is no way to tell who's coming up. Spread out your scouting. If you have a target in mind, stay with that. If you scout someone continuously you get more information on them.
Just remember, you can always keep a save that's right before you advance to the off-season. That way, if the whole draft class sucks, you can just try to generate another one. Also convenient if some of your players are little %&$^*@ and decide to hold out.
You can make trades before the draft. You can even trade draft picks, or FOR draft picks. Personally, I've found some success with trading picks for up and coming established players. I have the best TE in the league now (after Bubba Franks retired, I was stuck with no one) because I traded a second and third round pick for him. More than likely, the players I would've gotten with those picks wouldn't have been anywhere near this guy.
