...Franklin for her rendition of the national anthem before the football game tonight.

    Unbelieveable.

    Are you kidding?!?!

    God it was HORRIBLE.

I know she has a great voice and all, but she tore this anthem to pieces.

I know she had to put her 'spin' on it, but it was all unnecessary. She didn't need to stretch out 'wave' 5 times. One was enough.

And wtf was up with the gestures?!?! Her pointing made her look stupid.

And yes, she does have a nice voice and all, but it would be nice to actually hear it. She obviously synched it. Couldn't you tell when the voice cut off before she was done with the last note?

Besides that, she sounded like a bloated whale.

Uhh, I mean, at least it wasn't Britney.

When I first read this thread title, I thought perhaps she had lost 200lbs. She is considered a family of four on Southwest Airlines.

I was gonna start a thread about the pregame show last night. I thought it was awesome to see Aerosmith blow away Milli J Blige and Britney Vanilli. Tyler sounded incredible as always and that band kicks ass. Can you imagine the rehearsals?

Um Steve, Ms. Spears and Blige are going to go with a backtrack for the performance..you know..so that nothing unforseen happens...do you guys want to do that?

Hell no! We've been doing this for 70 years we'll be fine!

Aretha was horrible. She really let herself go. You would expect someone like Aretha Franklin and Barry White to be sexy looking by the type of songs they sing. But then you see them and it's just two big hideous Jabba the huts. They are really false advertising.

Aretha Franklin transcends traditional lyrics and melodies, she is a legend, a grammy winner and the first woman to be inducted into the R&R hall of fame among other accolades.

Retire? She is requested at the White House at least twice a year and was the last headliner that Princess Di ever saw.

I see her first hand once every couple of months and would guess that none of the more popular or skinnier singers would want to go on stage after her. She is an electrifying performer and truly UNDERestimated...

...Meet me in Detroit this weekend, she'll be there. Don't forget your goosebumps, you'll need them.

I don't even consider Aerosmith a rock band anymore. I was disgusted to see them with those TRL losers at the Superbowl halftime a few years ago. And that horrible song they did for that astroid movie was written by the same lady that writes songs for Britney and the boybands. Can you say *SELLOUT*?

They should start doing drugs again, their music has sucked since they cleaned up....

I totally agree with you. The only thing I admire about Aerosmith is how they had it all, lost it all, and then got it all back. But their music has sucked since they came back. As for the drugs thing, the same can be applied to the Rolling Stones, who haven't put out a good album since 1978 (Some Girls).

In regards to Aretha, she has one of the finest voices on the planet, but I did not like her rendition of the national anthem last night one bit.

    So true.

"Train Kept A'Rollin" is still one of the best jams ever. That song begs...no, demands...to be cranked at a very high volume.

Speaking of the game last night, I missed the halftime. I heard Britney Spears was on there AGAIN with Aerosmith. I can't stand her "music" and I'm glad I missed it.

So with that out of the way.....

    does anyone have any pictures?

Sorry, but I just didn't care for Aretha's version of the NA, too much in my opinion-- the whole thing was too much actually. Football is just dumb these days-- like a really big firework that fails to go off properly or a nascar race-- something along those lines. ;)
