So it beings tomorrow morning... Some of the rumors: Ultra Portable 12" "Macbook Air" - no wires, wimax Updated Macbooks and Macbook Pro's with the new intel chips Updated iPhone 16GB and 32GB models (no 3G yet) iTunes entire library DRM free Newton UMPC updated Apple TV feel free to add...
you know, all i want is voicenotes on the iPhone. It'd be the most anticlimactic Macworld ever, except for one guy hopping up and down about the voicenotes. Wanna bet that new Macbook is touch screen? It'd be rad if it could bluetooth to a screen, so you could use compatible monitors and screens wherever with your laptop.
You forgot to mention the much-ballyhooed iTunes movie rentals rumor. I have put off a laptop purchase for almost a year now, because I've been waiting for this damn Mac ultraportable to come out. It better be there tomorrow, and I hope the pricetag isn't too outrageous. I'm very curious about the Newton UMPC rumors. This year intel will have a chip out (forget the name) that is as powerful as their old M line but is very very tiny and reportedly eats just 1 watt. Apple is rumored to be on board for using this chip. This would be the right chip for something that is bigger and more powerful than an iphone, but smaller and less powerful than a laptop.
http://blogs.chron.com/techblog/ Update: Of course, take this with a huge grain of salt, but . . . Purportedly, an early draft of Steve Jobs' keynote has been leaked to the Web. Pocket Lint has a copy. It's in the form of an outline, with the following high points: • A revamp of the 13.3-inch MacBook in a .8-inch case with a built-in optical drive that pops out, in silver and black. The drive also will be used on iMacs. • New details on the iPhone/iTouch Software Developers Kit. Twitter is a one of the early apps available. • New 16-GB iPhone for $499; 8-GB is $399. • Leopard 10.5.2 update coming Tuesday. • Mac mini being refreshed with more memory, faster processor and a multi-layer SuperDrive. • Download YouTube videos straight to iTunes and Apple TV.
I was at MacWorld in Boston in 1995 when Bill Gates came on the bigscreen to announce Microsoft doing more business with Apple. I met the keyboard player for The Cars there. Damn I feel old now.
The rumored new macbooks sound ridiculous if true. New MacBooks! - What would MacWorld be without a new Mac? (sorry about last year) - Completely redesigned MacBook - Completely aluminum body like MacBook Pro - 13" screen at 1440x900 - Two colors: Black and Silver - Looks gorgeous at 0.8" thin - A major feat of engineering - patents abound - DVD drive pops open on side when eject button is pressed - New on all notebooks and iMac: iSight HD (720p) - New backlit keyboard based on recent Apple Keyboard revisions (keys slightly lighter than that of laptop casing, colorwise) - New matching MagSafe cable (Aluminum ends, cord color matches that of keyboard) - New matching Apple Remote (slightly smaller with larger overall buttons) - Intel GMA X3100 graphics - 3 models - Completely phasing out the combo drive on all product lines today http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/news/news.phtml/12251/13275/Steve-jobs-keynote-speech-leaked.phtml I've always wanted a powerbook/macbook pro because of its unparalleled designed, but thought 2000 dollars was kind of steep for just surfing the internet and such, but it looks like apple may be bringing the design of the macbook pro down to the regular macbook which would be awesome. I can't wait until tommorrow!
I just want to know about the 2nd gen iPod touch. I'm holding off until it comes out to get that. Need more space than what they currently have. Can't downgrade from the 60GB iPod I have to a 16GB, even if it's touch screen.
Wired Gadget Blog The Wired Blog speculates on the new ultraportable, including the pictured mock up. I'm not an Apple fanboy but I've been paying more attention to their offerings since I've bought a Macbook. I have to admit this would be sick.
Expect the 16GB IPhone to have 3G....the European clientele demands it. Also, to any current IPhone owners out there (like myself) version 1.1.3 firmware is supposed to drop any day know. I expect it to drop tomorrow so Jobs can make light of its improvements during his speech. This is most likely to keep demand up for the current IPhone, despite the announcement of the coming 3G IPhone, which won't reach stores until late this summer. BTW, the new 3G IPhone is expected to look like the current model. Also, let me drop a SMALL bombshell....IPhone Nano is coming but it is not expected to drop at Macworld. Test models are already in circulation...supposedly, a budget phone minus Wifi and touchscreen and 4GB of storage. For comparison's sake, think Moto SLVR, a phone that had ITunes. It was incirculation in 2006 for then-Cingular.
why exactly are macbooks so highly regarded? everytime I ask someone about what makes a mac better than pc, they talk about how easy it is to manage photo's etc. but other than that, what does the macbook do better than a pc?
Anyone wonder if they've been buying up bandwidth and have a plan to basically become a Wifi carrier to their customers? Way wild guess. but "something in the air..." i dont know.
There's nothing extra special. The main difference is it can run OS X, which is obviously a personal preference. I haven't been in the market for a laptop for awhile, so I'm not sure...but I think the Macbook's price/performance are pretty comparable to it's PC counterparts (as opposed to other Apple computers). After using Leopard, I will say that I prefer it much more then XP/Vista. I still use a Windows machine, but I bought a Mac so I could use Logic software.
I hope the rumor about the entire iTunes library being DRM free is true. And I also hope that Apple makes it possible to lower the bitrate when transferring these 256bps songs to iPods. I'm glad they're upping the bitrate, but 128bps is still good enough for me on the iPod. I believe that can be done with the Shuffle, but not with other iPods.
It would not be possible to use a firmware update to switch over to 3G? You're probably right about the announcement. Someone at AT&T said that they are making the network more energy efficient and was hoping to see it in the iphone by the end of the year.
lol. Hey, hey.... I rely on fanboys to help my stock back up to $200. I've been buying on dips, but I'm worried if Apple doesn't bring out yet another "orgasmic product" the stock will take a hit. Maybe they'll bring out a touchscreen MacBook with a 10 gig hard drive and 500 MB of RAM and slowly upgrade it iteration after iteration.
I' ve been waiting to get a MacBook Pro. Hopefully we'll see a revised version or at least a beefed up MBP.
