What IRC/chat clients do you guys use? I know of several, but which ones do you recommend? By the way, this OS X is one beautiful OS. Damn. I have one machine running Windows XP and another running OS X. It's close, but in terms of sheer visual appeal, I think OS X is a better looking environment. Can't wait to dig into it...
I've been playing around with the beta version of aol's im os x version. Other than that I don't use chat clients that often.
SNAK Baby!!! I don't know if it supports OS X but I have 9.1 and it is GREAT on that. I LOVE Snak for the BBS chats!
I must concur with Jeff, especially since it was he that originally reccomended the product to me. Snak is indeed very good.
Mango, I already have a list of them after doing a search, I just was wondering if anyone had personal experience with any particular one. Ircle and Snak were the 2 I knew about... I may be looking at Snak even though I think Ircle's been around for several years.
I started with Snak, but then my free trial period ended, so I decided to look around for others. Now I am using Ircle and like it much better. When this trial period ends, I will stay with it...I think it is better than Snak, and it is cheaper!
I guess I'm a little old school when it comes to chat clients, although I haven't been on IRC in a while...
I rarely use AIM and even more rarely I use ICQ, but those are the only two I've ever used as I'm not one for chats. ICQ is a pain; I only had it b/c of an online game I was playing, and I only got AIM b/c of a few friends who used it. I definitely prefer AIM over ICQ, but I've never heard of or tried to other ones mentioned.
That would be nice if there was an mIRC for Macs... lol. I've used mIRC on the PC for years and wish they'd come out with a Mac version.
Thanks for the input Lynus302, but I need one that can connect to "universal" chat networks such as Efnet, DalNet, WebChat, etc. I'd especially need it for in-game chats during Rockets games. Unfortunately I'd have no use for proprietary software like AIM or ICQ, but thanks again.
