Well, I thought I'd give Firefox a try. I downloaded it, unstuffed it and clicked on it. The icon is now in my dock blinking on and off. I won't quit. It won't open. What am I doing wrong?
When something like this happens, re-boot. Most software will load up instantly, but some - particularly if you've been doing other things or have had the computer on for a few days - will act weird until you re-boot.
Wish I could help, but I have only used Firefox on an apple once (about a month ago), and it worked okay for me, but I really am not even certain what I did to get it working. Let us know if that works, and if not, I'll make sure we find an answer. No reason to let a small problem like this stop someone from using firefox Although, Safari is pretty nice. But I've never liked the way KHTML renders stuff (I don't know why, I've just never liked it much), and I didn't like its tab-browsing as much as Firefox.
If you are talking about it bouncing in the dock when it launches you can turn that off. System Prefs -> Dock -> Uncheck the box next to "Animate Opening Icons".
no no, thats easy, but say you click on a program and expect it to open, it will bounce for like 5 mins, then nothing, neither the program opens, nor the bouncing continues. its annoying.
many programs that arent installed correctly go thru this. I used to use a mac, i just got a compaq, price reasons.
I finally downloaded firefox a week or so ago and.. well it just seems so much slower .. webpages load slower than IE etc.. bad download or is it supposed to be slower?
