    Thank you for the information.

Anyone have personal experience with these things? Are they liked?

Why do you want to switch?

You'll probably get some negativity in here (it's amusing to see what the mention of Apple will do to some folks), but I used a mac for the first time a year ago when I bought a macbook and am pleased with it. I have been a PC user for most of my life and am fine with them (particularly when it comes to gaming), but I have a much better opinion of macs now that I have actually used them.

The OS does much the same things, but there is a slight learning curve. I've found the Apple interface to be more intuitive, and navigation to be much smoother; this, of course, is a YMMV type of thing.

Software compatibility, for the average user, is a much smaller problem than in the past. Universal things like Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and the like) are on the Mac and if you get really stuck, it's simple to put Windows on the system if necessary.

In addition, the concern over virus/spyware problems hitting your machine are much, much smaller. Some may tell you this is mainly because there is a smaller marketshare for Macs out there, but whatever the reason doesn't really matter. I don't even have an antivirus program on my laptop.

What it comes down to, though, is what you are going to use the system for. For example - though there are options - if you're a heavy PC gamer you're much better off on the Windows side.

On the work/business side, you want to be sure whatever you may need to do for work is compatible. I've known some people who had very specific programs they needed to access for work. In those instances, again, you are better off on the Windows side.

You've mentioned a Macbook Pro; great machine, but again it depends on what you want to to with it. I've been fine with a Macbook, even for work, but the Pro does have advantages (such as the dedicated video card).

Anyway, hope that helps. Good luck.

I have just heard better things about the macs. I know they are more user friendly.

Main purpose would be for itunes, internet, some videos, and work.
