I know he always gets us w/ his trailers, but this seems to be interesting.... http://www.firstshowing.net/2008/02/04/m-night-shyamalans-the-happening-teaser-trailer/
Well, if it's even half as good as "Lady in the Water," then I simply cannot wait!!! (Please note extreme sarcasm)
Oh man, there is no way either of those two could be better than "The Village". No flippin way. (Even more extreme sarcasm)
What??? I loved The Village!!!! I especially loved how they made fun of the kid with down syndrome!!!! Are you kidding me? They should do that more often in HOLLYWOOD MOVIES! (Even more extreme sarcasm )
Hmmm, it turns out whatever scared all those people into killing themselves in the trailer is not true/real. That's my guess, bank on it.
Sixth Sense: Insanely good Unbreakable: One of my personal favorites Signs: Pretty damn good. The Village: OK, that... wasn't... good. Lady in the Water: You're dead to me.
So how much of Shyamalan are we going to see in this movie? Hopefully not too much.... I can't take anymore plot twists that revolve around Shyamalan's character somehow saving the world or some other random crap like that.
I agree with this, although The Village did it for me. I didn't bother with the Lady in the water one. I'll wait on good reviews before I'll watch the Happening.
Exactly. There is a pattern here, and if the pattern continues this might be one of the worst movies of all time.
I liked all of his movies, especially Unbreakable....but I will admit that I've waited for the DVD to watch the last two.
Sixth sense never wowed me the way it did everyone, the twist was cool but it didn't blow me away. Unbreakable was solid. Signs, eh stupid aliens can't open doors, why? The Village, where's Rod Sterling when you need him. Didn't even bother with lady in the water. Needless to say, over the last few year i've really started to dislike M. night, if that is your real name, but the trailer for this flick looks kind of interesting, well see how he screws it up with his "clever" twist
To me, The Sixth Sense was a great movie even without the twist at the end. That's what made me movie so phenomenal to me. I actually thought Lady in the Water was decent. Much much much better than The Village. I seem to remember a heated argument on here regarding Unbreakable. Can't remember who it was with.
It always feels like every Shymalan thread ends up looking like it belongs in D&D, so I'll just say I'm looking forward to this movie and move on.
right on the dot for me. although i cant comment on lady in the water havent seen it yet. i may just take your word for it.
Well, I'll look forward to this one the same way I look forward to all of his movies now - with more of a sense of curiosity than any wild anticipation. The Sixth Sense was an astonishingly good movie, still watchable even knowing everything about it. What amazes me is how so many people seemed to like Unbreakable.. to me, that is far and away the worst effort he has made, even including his latest two. I thought it was clumsy and poorly thought through and had an anti-payoff at the end.. bleah. Signs, well, I get it now after seeing it several times. The story with the aliens and the crop circles and all that was completely ancillary to the actual story, which was an in-depth exploration of what it means to have faith. The Village was another clear allegory, a pretty obvious anti-war and anti-isolationist fable - obviously not many people 'get' this one - it was very well made, and although the big 'twist' was fairly obvious before it was actually revealed, it still managed to convey a feeling of utterly helpless fear 'of the unknown'. Lady in the Water - well, this one was a bit of a head-scratcher.. I have seen it several times too, and I cannot find any more depth there than what lies on the surface, which was a fairly simple tale of letting the audience come to all the wrong conclusions, only to have them swapped and switched at the end, like some kind of a puzzle that only comes clear once you turn it upside-down. It's pretty obvious that MNS has the hots for Ron Howard's daughter.. she is talented and attractive, but it is starting to seem a bit unseemly. It's a good sign that she does not appear to be in this new one.
I think for me, it was hard to get past the large wolf with grass for fur. It's not that I don't have an imagination and cannot appreciate fiction (or even science fiction).......but obviously M. Night can't.
