I am going to apply for a job at MD Anderson using the referral of a long time employee there. She says she doesn't know which way would be better.

For better results, should I apply online and wait, or should I apply in person?

apply in person for sure...i dont know what kind of position youre trying to get but i put in apps to like 340598092209348209820985 online listings and didnt get one single response

i got my research position at ut houston through a rec, and i did not even bother applying online until i saw the PI in person (and i only applied online because he told me to for clerical reasons)

but like donny said, i think you should do both

both. to get HR at MDACC to do anything is a pain. Don't trust them to do anything right or in a timely manner. If possible, get your referral to contact the supervisor of the job you are applying. Then maybe the supervisor will request your resume (or submitted from the back end).

You will have to be active. HR there is worthless.

Yup. what he said. do your best to avoid HR and to interview directly with the supervisor, which should be easier if you have a current employee rec

Agreed with above. Work overtime to get a face to face with your prospective supervisor/dept head/etc. You'd be surprised how many jobs here are created when they're filled. Goes for all of the med center, really.
