My english teacher has given us a project to find metaphors, similes, repetition and etc. If anyone can think of a song with a lot of this, it would help a lot. I know Rage has a lot.
Pojama People Some people's hot Some people's cold Some people's not very Swift to behold Some people do it Some see right through it Some wear pyjamas If only they knew it The pyjamas people are boring me to pieces They make me feel like I am wasting my time They all got flannel up 'n down 'em A little trap-door back aroun' 'em An' some cozy little *footies* on their mind Po-jama people! Po-jama people, people! Lawd, they make you sleepy With the things they might say Po-jama people! Po-jama people, people! *Mother, Mary 'n Jozuf*, wish they'd all go away! Po-jama people! It's a po-jama people special... Take one home with you & save a dollar today Po-jama people! Po-jama people, people! Wrap 'em up Roll 'em out Get 'em out of my way Frank Zappa From the album: One Size Fits All
I was looking at "London Calling" by The Clash, but couldn't find 4 or more DIFFERENT lit terms. There is an allusion to the Beetles ("Beetlemanis has bitten the dust"), repetition with a chorus, and probably a metaphor somewhere. If anyone could find a few more literary devices in the song it would help me a lot. similies metaphors allusions repetition etc. need at least 4
Isn't this all you need then? Rage has at least 10-15 songs with LOTS of metaphors in them. Basically every Rage song is a metaphor.
I would but everybody is doing a Rage song. I wanted to do something a little different. Now I just need to BS some terms into London Calling.
Off the top of my head, I think Bob Dylan would be someone with all kinds of metaphors, similes, etc The first song on "Highway 61 Revisited" is called "Like a Rolling Stone", for crying out loud!
There are very few artists out there that pack more meaning into their lyrics than RATM. Powerful stuff. Maize was all we needed to sustain Now her golden skin burns, insecticide rain Ya down wit DDT, yeah you know me Raped for tha grapes, profit for the bourgeoisie.
More RATM... ASHES IN THE FALL A mass of tears have Transformed to stones now Sharpened on suffering And wovened into slings
