I would like to try that at least once, but that's a lot of money for movie night.

that screen looked small. the viewing room looked small. it's one thing to have a more private and upscale experience, but, for me, it's still going to be about the silver screen size and sound quality.

they don't even make the screens silver anymore. The silver ones were way better. Almost no theaters have 70mm anymore either. Its all 35mm.

Sometimes though, they make the sound waaay too loud. Annoyingly loud.

    I wouldn't pay more than the cover to a pricier nightclub: $20 - $25.

I wonder if those theatre patrons clap in the middle of a movie?

More like Alamo Drafthouse for people with more money than sense. At the Drafthouse, you get a full menu, including beer and wine, good food, a bigger screen, tableside service, comfy seats with plenty of legroom, and you pay as little as $6.50. About the only thing missing is valet parking, but since I hate handing over my keys to a minimum wage flunky anyway, that's no great loss.

I just paid $35.00 to watch a movie. Am I living the high life?

I'd rather take a girl to a comedy club for $100~$120.

those seats look really nice and comfy.
also, I've seen movies at a director's screening, its actually very nice.

    things I think are good,

1.since the rooms are small you don't have to sit in the front row or at and odd angle.
    2. this is new york city prices which are jacked up anyways
    3. gourmet food sounds good

so they took the alamo drafthouse idea and raised it up alittle.

The video they showed was in Chicago. But they said more branches are opening up nationwide.

You can see the best comedy for free at UCB Theatre in NYC every Monday and Wednesday at 11PM. Past few weeks I have seen Zach Galiafinakis, Arj Barker, Todd Barry, and Aziz Ansari ...all for free. It doesn't get any better then this.

No more "Mom... what did the guy say?", or

"Can you guys scoot over one seat so we can fit here at the end? :( ", or

"F*k. This armrest is sticky and so is the floor... what gives? "

Also, the theater size makes it feel "homey."

I saw this last week when it aired. I actually brought it up in conversation last night before I saw this thread. Interesting concept, too rich for my blood.

they got everything right except for these points. the small room is ok because there aren't a lot of seats, which is to be expected because the price will keep lot of ppl out.
