An exclusive interview of Luther Head by Wang Meng of Titan Sports on the day of his arrival to Shanghai for the Basketball Without Borders Asia 2007 camp. The poor guy is worrying that he could be traded away......
good read pruyen, hope he can stay but if he must go in order to improve the team then we gotta do what we gotta do
if only luther didn't freaking choke in the playoffs, then him getting traded would not be a question.
Smart enough to know he is a trade asset and expendable. Not smart enough to know that the flight to China is long. He should stay, he was restricted under JVG and his offense was restricted to being a 3pt specialist when he can be a deadly cutter.
Its true. Of all our players Head was probably the most restricted in the JVG scheme. Head was a different player in college. Best scenario may be to let him play a month into the season and then shop him. His stock may rise dramatically.
People tend to think luther cant attack the rim. but thats a false notion. this guy in college was a outstanding at taking to the rim. i think he'll be a great player in the motion offense. he's smart, strong and is a prett good player at establishing position without the ball. motion offense requiers smart players who can play smart off the ball. i think luther can be very effective.
Luther Head is definitely a trade asset. This is something the Rockets' front office, Mr. Head himself and the rest of the NBA know. But IMO, to trade him solely off a bad playoff performance smacks of throwing out the baby with the bathwater. I feel that Head has a great deal to bring to the table, and can still be a valuable part of the Rockets. Is running the point his strong suit? The answer based on last season would be no. But that won't be his job this year if he stays - presumably you would have the two-headed PG of Alston/James, with some limited time for Aaron Brooks. Luther getting time to spell the 2 or in a small lineup still seems to make sense for the Rockets at this point in time. I think the time to deal him may come to pass...but the time is not right now.
I want you to stay, too, Luther. *prays* We gotta make him a Rocket for life! The whole ****ing roster choked in the playoffs. Shane Battier was the only player who even MET his regular season averages.
I think in all likelihood, he will be traded. It will be very sad to see him traded should it happen, however. I love the guy, despite his faults, and reading how he wants to remain a Rocket for life just makes me like him even more.
Did Luther really say que sera sera? Nice. I hope he can stay, but if he can net us a quality starting PF, then c'est la vie.
I'm not sure. Well in the Chinese article, it said 是怎样就是怎样.... and following the flow of the interview and the question he was answering, I thought that should mean "whatever will be will be...." Then I remembered this very old song of Que Sera Sera.
Man I really like head and would not trade him unless we get a really useful PF. Unfortunately he is by far our best trading asset.
I think he should stay, he's become a much more valuable player with the coming of Adelman. JVG's system is too restrictive for players like himself, Snyder, and Alston.
I don't want him to be traded.I think the probable offers that the Rockets have gotten so far for him have been underwhelming, partly because other teams always like to low ball and partly because of his playoff failure. If a good offer comes for him he might get traded, which will be sad.I wish he had done well in the playoffs.
