- luther is currently (feb 5) 9th in the league in 3 pointers made per game at 2.3. - he's 5th in the league in total 3 pointers made at 107. - he's 5th in the legaue in 3 point % (of players who have taken more than 100) - at .439%. how can he not be chosen for the shoot-out?
They didn't even choose jason kapano and he could win it. Of course no one would be novak if he was in it.
They haven't officially chosen yet, but I read on a miami board that kapano's agent told him he didn't make it and kapano said because it's a popularity contest that he didn't make it. Could be wrong info though.
that would royally suck, but its very beleivable. kopono desearves it more than anyone else right now. over 50% with more than 100 3PA... that's pretty damned good.
If it's a popularity contest, then Lutha has an advantage by playing for a winning team. Either way, I don't care.. Just give me HEAD !!
If they pick Luther then Mark Cuban will start crying again and say that it is conspiracy. I hope Luther gets selected and kicks Dirk's ass.
even if Luther gets picked, I dont see him doing good simple because "on the move" shooters usually suck in 3pt shoot outs. the only shooters that do really well are "stationary" shooters (Bird, Dirk...), Luther's shot takes a lot of power from his legs and his whole body (he jumps really high, pauses for a second, then lets it go) and his shot usually looks offbalance. he is a great shooter nontheless, not a 3pt shootout type though.. I actually think Jon Barry would be extremely successful in the shootout (love his high arching, almost non-jump-shot ), too bad he retired..
Couldn't agree more, the only thing I'll add is that every time Luther shoots a three, he jumps forward and lands a few feet inside the arc. Obviously this isn't a very good form for the 3pt shoot out as he'll have to shoot, land inside the arc, jump/run back behind the line, shoot again, land inside the arc, and so on. That'll be time consuming and he'll probably be rushing his shots when he realizes he's running out of time. Also it'll take a lot of energy out of him, making him tired near the end. Hopefully, if he does get picked, I'll be cheering for him so he can prove me wrong.
I don't buy that because if you can time the shot while moving, then you can time while "almost" stationary. The only adjustment you need to do is position yourself "as if you are catching the ball on the move" and drain the shot. Everyone has a certain position that they make to trigger the shot and it's not difference here
Addtional notes: Players don't have the luxury of receiving the ball at the right place or position during "real time" game action and they have to adjust accordingly. This year, Luther has done that better than most players that I've have seen. The bottom line is if you can do it under pressure while catching or possessing the ball various positions before getting set to prepare yourself to trigger the shot and still drain it consistently , then you should still be able to simulate that condition when not under pressure.
