Knicks signed a former 2 way player Luke Kornet to their 15 man roster using his non-bird rights for 1.6M 1 year deal. There was mention in an article that because they signed him using his non-bird rights he wouldn't count against the cap. Can someone explain why that is and if it's true. I couldn't find any reason why his salary would not count against the cap.
