Haven't seen this posted yet. If it has been posted, please lock this up. Saw this FIBA interview of Luis Scola where he talked about his rookie season in NBA, and his feeling and impression of playing alongside Yao Ming.....
well clearly scola is one of the best basketball players in the world. i mean, out of the 6 something billion people in the world, im sure scola is probably up there as one of the best basketball players. hes even in the nba. that would put him in the 95th percentile, at least.
Seeing as he is a starting PF in the NBA, yah, he is. He is probably a top 100 player. That's being among the best worldwide. He is just not an NBA superstar, that's all. Not that many out there.
He has accomplished alot and single handedly led Argentina to win 2nd at the FIBAs this summer. I believe the writer meant one of the most accomplished- and I would agree in an international sense. Can't wait till he adds "NBA Champion w/ Rockets" to his resume.
Funny you mention that though. ESPN Truehoop has some comments about the NBA and playing time. "It's one of the toughest jobs in sports. If you're the 400th best player in the world, you're probably making good money putting up good numbers overseas. But if you're somewhere between the 100th and 400th best, there's a good chance you're in the NBA, and not playing much basketball at all." Or the D-League I guess...
Scola will become a good player. If they make him their second or third scorer, he won't disappoint. The guy is doing pretty good for his first season. Wait until next year. Him and Tmac should be our second best scorer next year if we are not getting anyone better in the off season.
Anthony "Pig" Miller was one of the great basketball players in the world at one point too. I mean he must of done something right to end up in the NBA
I think Yao is our most consistent, most hard working player. But in terms of skill and potential, I'd have to go with T-Mac.
McGrady said Yao was our best player a week ago. I was glad when no one started a thread about it (not a knock on you Pryuen I consider you an asset here) because it has become clear. A non-issue. Yao is our best player. What we have done without him is astounding.
It's partially true with Tmac playing injured, who yet is still playing a great all-around game. I guarantee you that a healthy Tmac is definitely better, in fact much better. We'll see next season.
When Yao can play more then 50 games a year he can have the title of "best player". Until then its Tmac.
Utah wouldn't be single covering Yao, I can tell you that much. I understand where you are coming from though don't get me wrong. Just supporting Yao.
