In the final 10 games to average 10ppg for the year.

Come on Luis....12.3 is very manageable...stop the touch fouls I want a 10ppg starting PF.....

    YOU CAN DO IT !!

Luis is exactly the type of PF this team needs.

First Blood VI: Sly meets Scola
Kirk Snyder played hard. He played well. He demonstrated that there is a place for him in this league.

But the impact of his performance on Wednesday will go far beyond his play on the floor.

He did something no one has done as well this season.

He hung a nickname on Luis Scola. It's perfect.

"He's like Rambo," Snyder said. "He never backs down from anything. He's so aggressive and he hustles all over the place. I think that nickname is perfect for him. They should start calling him the Rambo Man."

Not the Rambo Man, just Rambo.

    Rambo Scola.

On a night the Rockets struggled to find any intensity, Scola was all over the place. He grabbed 18 rebounds on simple hustle as the Rockets got a season-high 58, outrebounding the Timberwolves by 20. It was not artful, but he scrapped his way to 18 points. He even got three steals.

Rookie wall? The guy is crashing through it.

"He was really good pursuing the ball," Rockets coach Rick Adelman said. "They had some big guys out there that will jump right over your back if you don't put your body on them. I think Luis' activity stood up. He was active when I didn't care for it when there was 1:40 left and he fouled the guy out at halfcourt and stopped the clock. That's not what we want. He just has that enthusiasm. He sees something and he goes for it. He's been so effective for us.

"I think what's really been a telling sign for him too is that with Yao out, he has continued to produce. He has been able to get a lot of things because of Yao. But he is finding a way to be effective without Yao."

That will be key going forward. Without Yao, the Rockets need Scola to knock down the mid-range jumpers he gets, and for him and Carl Landry to finish at the rim. That will be particularly important on Sunday against the interior defense of the Spurs.

For now though, the Rockets picked up another win, reducing the regular season to its final 10 games. Games like Wednesday's can be tough in their own way, with a weak opponent coming in before three off days and the Sunday game against the Spurs and with the Dikembe Mutombo Tribute making the night feel less about the game and more about a celebration.

The Lakers dropped one of those trap games on Wednesday, losing at home against the Bobcats after the intense back-to-back against the Warriors.

The Rockets have a handful of guys who only play all out. On Wednesday, that was especially true of Scola, or make it Rambo.

Yao and Rambo will be a nice frontcout in 08-09.

Somebody else actually threw Rambo out there in the first Scola nickname thread.

It was one of my Fav 3. The others I liked were Tarzan and Rocky. They are all fitting.

The good news is that Luis is averaging 12.6 ppg this month and has scored 12 or more points in 10 of the 14 games we've played in March.

I am really diggin the games when Scola is big on the boards. We know he can put up points. It is good rebounding that will legitimize him as a top tier PF over the next few years.

Sorry to burst your bubble DD, but the Passion Assassin just isn't anywhere close to NBA nick material. I am not feeling it at all.

    Rambo, First Scola.

I like it. As in he drew first Scola; now, watchout, Luis is gonna finish him.

Well, we've seen it before how good your instincts are when it comes to "bursting people's bubble"...

How about being a bit more humble?

You could learn from Scola... the Passion Assassin!

100 ppg PF isn't all that it's cracked up to be. After all, our last "10 ppg PF" was JHo. And before that Mo Taylor. And before that Kenny Thomas. Scola's a lot more efficient with is 10 points though. THAT's the big deal here.

He is the biggest gain last summer. He can do better because he sometimes missed easy layup.

Do you realize that if Landry could average 13.8 points per game over the last games that he would be at 10 ppg for the season too? At the pace he is going, if he could get 8-9 shots, which is 3 more shots per game than he is averaging, and 26 minutes per game, he could easily do it.

Would "Rambo" make his alter ego, Sylvester Scolane? :D

(and yeah, "Passion Assassin" is TERRIBLE)
