I thought the team as a whole played much better with Ward in the game... Lue dribbled a bit too often, didn't look too decisive.

Ward kept the ball in the stars' hands and kept the turnovers down

that is his ONLY job (maybe an occasional 3) - and he did fine.

Lue is a nice backup in spirts - when the team needs scoring

I actually think that Gaines and Zimmerman looked good with that scrub lineup (great passing!!!)

nothing against Boki - but I would like to see more of those two with the bigs in some of these pre-season games

I completely agree. I was actually pleasantly surprised at Ward's play on both sides of the courth. Lue did a nice job too, but he looks like a perfect guy to come in as a spark in spurts off the bench. I was anxious to see Gaines play and I wasn't dissapointed. He made some nice plays while in there. I'm pulling for Boki to show something this year, but just judging from this one game, it doesn't look too promising.

yeah right. charlie ward looked like he could'nt keep up with dwayne wade on the defensive end of the floor. and almost got pick pocketed every time ward dribbled the ball up the floor on the offensive end. lue should be the starter. but i allready like our new point guards better than last years. even though its still tooo early to tell. and i feel that hawkins should stay on the team by the time the reg season rolls around.

I like to see Ward start, but i love to see Lue used as a super-Sub. ward has more experince hence i see him more of a starter, but lue can come in and shake things up for 20 min a game.

I still think Lue should start and gain more experience with Tmac and Yao. And let those old stars to play together as back up -Ward, Dike.

Please, name me one PG in the league that CAN stay up with Wade? The guy is possibly THE quickest guard in the NBA. I know Ward is not one of the quickest guys, especially at his age, but please don't judge him against a player of Wade's caliber.

It's true-- I'm finding it hard to recall a guard as fast as Wade. He's just one of those guys that's going to cause matchup problems for anybody. Ward isn't ideal, but he didn't look too bad out there and he appears to know his role, i.e. getting the ball into the right hands.

you guys won this arguement with wade's quickness. but i if i see guys like eric snow, or much worse gary payton crossward over and strip the ball; then we are gonna have some problems. :(

Fair Point, but, i believe every team should have a Super-sub who can come in shoot a few threes, make a couple of nice passes and starts creats a couple of fasts breaks. in short a real energy guy. i believe Lue is a Perfect player for such a Vital Role.

Why? He probably won't be back next year anyway.

this is like saying Yao is a "below average" defender after playing Shaq - as the others put it - NO ONE in the league can keep up with Wade. Ward got some tipped balls on defense and no bonehead turnovers. I am not saying he is the second coming of Magic Johnson, just that it appeared to be doing HIS job.

Again, I thought Zimmerman and Gaines made some nice ball handling moves (dribbling and passing) during garbage time - hope they get some more minutes with some of the main players.

I think Chan thinks Lue is Kim Perrot (+).

Lue will be great in that role - he is too short to play 30+ mins at the Point.

At first glimpse I thought this was Lue (www.nba.com front page).

I thought Gaines handle and shot form looked kinda weird. But in all he did not really suck - and I am not sure if that is a compliment.

Isn't it great that we are having this discussion?

    Lue should start!
    No Ward should!
    No Lue should!
    No Ward should!

Nice to have options on starters and bench, huh?;)

Ward will be the one to start becuase he bring alot of experience and leadership to the game BUT Lue will get the same amount or min if not more at times than Ward will get.

I like Ward as the starter, he understand his role of distributing the ball to the stars plus he is a vet ( that gives him the advantage over Lue). Ward really impressed me defensively at how he played the passing lane when his man didn't have the ball. There were alot passes that he disrupted but didn't get credit for the steal ( other Rocket pick up). Looking at the stat sheet Lue had more steals at 3, but overall I was more impressed with Ward.
