We have no need for Jimmy Butler. Brooks needs to go, but Jimmy would not solve the fact that we have 3 guys that play SF that need minutes this year. We are not winning a championship, why on Earth would you get an over the hill max player and give up significant assets for him? It’s a horrible idea.

I would do the above mentioned deal with one pick for Jimmy, and that's about it. Just on the basis of that being a good trade return + he does help us in the short term.

I'm sure some contender will offer more, so I don't see it happening. Hopefully Stone is smart enough not to pay market value given Butler's age and how stocked we are at the 3.

I like Jimmy but he seems to be injured every other year near playoff time. He is also almost 35, right? Just wouldn't seem wise unless we are trading Dillon Brooks + other expiring contract.

Zach Lowe on that LeBron James Clutch Payroll trying to break up young Teams.

LeBron James trying to get that 11th seed again. With the Referees help.
1,000 more Free Throws more than any other team.

Id trade Brooks for picks and some end of bench player. Trading Brooks for a dude who demands heavy minutes on a roster full of dudes who need minutes is stupid.

Brooks has enough value for a late first round pick I think think.

Imagine thinking calling somebody Pat Riley is an insult. That man by himself is more successful than our entire history as a franchise, you realise that, right?

Jimmy in his prime was a diva, he created drama leaving Minnesota, more drama in Philly, and to this day hates on Philly, from PR standpoint we can not deal with another ex star player constantly hating on the franchise (Barkley, Carmelo, etc) People have forgotten about his ego since he became known as playoff Jimmy in Miami, but Miami has an elite front office and the best coach in the NBA so a lot of his success has been due to that.

He has forgotten what it was like being elsewhere and Pat Riley is over him and his ego as he has made some public statements about it. He has used us for leverage in the past, we need to come out and say we are not interested at all publicly. At 35 years old and now in steep decline with his injuries, his ego is the last thing this team needs. I think maybe the Clippers would make some sense if they have anything left to trade that is, but Jimmy is meant for a desperate team with a small window.

Ya another article was saying Brooks , Cam , Jeff Green, Tate / 2 frps. Personally I would not trade Green, if you can upgrade Dillon to Butler and lose Cam Whitmore would not be so big of blow.

Adding Butler this year along side Segun and Jalen would be huge. Like 5th seed possibly, and 2nd Rd appearance...50 wins team.

Butler can go to Dallas. Don't come here

Unless I see a Top 3 team trade for Jimmy, cannot shake that feeling as well that he is primed to go to a lower Playoff berth.

Miami did get the most ouf of him which still did not result in a title.

No idea how media comes up with those idiotic proposals. Getting washed, 35 year old Jimmy makes zero sense on our timeline even if all it takes is Dillon + fillers. Giving up actual young talent + picks sounds like trolling. It is entirely possible that Cam alone will have more trade value than Jimmy come trade deadline.

Ironically, Pat Riley was the very first draft pick ever made by the Rockets.

It wasn't an insult. It's just that your perspective aligns with what I'd expect from him. He drives quite a hard bargain. It's resulted in him not being able to make deals to pair Butler with other stars more recently.

Interestingly enough, Pat Riley is also one of the only top 10 draft picks in Rockets history to fail to have at least one season of 0.200 WS/48 or better during their first 3 seasons.

We currently have another draft bust like that on the Rockets. Specifically one other, even if we include last season's rookie.

Maybe Jalen will go on to be a HOF head coach after he gives up on being a player.

Only BTG could link this discussion of Pat Riley to Jalen Green. I have to hand it to you. You might be the most devoted troll I have ever encountered. Keep up the good work.

@tinman is on another level but he takes his trolling talents to the D&D mostly. It's the time dedication that is most impressive. He spends A LOT of time spamming that sub forum to the point where I really hope he coded some AI chat bot rather than dedicating that much time because then I'd be severely concerned about mental health for him.

What use does butler have to the rockets? We're not trying to compete this season, giving up assets for a guy his age would be brutal
