    Love-Making Couple Sparks Police Emergency

2 hours, 8 minutes ago Oddly Enough - Reuters

LONDON (Reuters) - British police sprang into operation after receiving an emergency '999' phone alert from a woman in apparently in some distress -- only to discover it had accidentally been made by a couple having sex.

Officers at Durham in northern England became alarmed when the call came through to their headquarters in the middle of the night and all they could hear was what sounded like a woman crying with a man's voice in the background.

Police traced the number and rushed to the scene, where they found the embarrassed and disheveled couple who explained they were "messing around."

"It happened while they were having sex. The woman had depressed with her foot the '9' button on the phone which happened to be on the floor," a Durham police spokesman told Reuters Wednesday.

"It certainly put a smile on the faces on the police side -- we were just very relieved it wasn't a violent situation and that the couple were clearly getting on very well together."

See, now this is why I prefer the American "911" emergency number. It's much better at preventing the mistaken dialing of emergency personel while in the midst of some wild crazy sex. I'm sure it saves our emergency services a lot in false alarms.

Lovers' passionate pitstop sends car off cliff in Argentina

    Tue Oct 19,12:15 PM ET

    Offbeat - AFP

BUENOS AIRES (AFP) - A couple who parked for a bit of passion on wheels got the surprise of their lives after their raucous rocking sent their car over a cliff in the west of Argentina.

There were no serious injuries, police said Tuesday, but almost certainly some bruised egos as the 35-year-old man and 31-year-old woman plunged more than 300 meters (yards) into a ravine in Lujan de Cuyo, in the wine-making province of Mendoza.

Oddly enough, authorities said the couple did not notice when the car took off without a driver.

The man was able to walk out of the vehicle but firemen had to pry his out his stunned companion.

Couple Allegedly Has Sex in Shoe Store

1 hour, 16 minutes ago Strange News - AP

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Two out-of-towners got caught in a rain shower, and decided to seek refuge by breaking into a shoe store. Then one thing led to another — at least that's what the couple told the officer who found them having sex amid new boots in the store's display window.

The officer responding to a burglar alarm at Hacienda Western Wear on Tuesday tapped on the glass door, disturbing Pauline Grace Rainwater, 20, and Brandon Lee Clark, 18. The couple was naked, but Clark managed to cover himself with one hand, and wave at the police officer with the other.

The officer told the couple to get dressed. Court records show they did — and then they took off running. A call for backup brought more officers to the streets, and the two were arrested.

Clark and Rainwater were charged Thursday with burglary, resisting an officer, assaulting an officer and indecent exposure. Bail for each of the transients was set at $7,500.

I just do not get it. Why did they have to break into the store in the first place?
