Just wondering if there were any other fans out there. My friends and I just watched the 5th DVD on Sunday and it's still on my mind. If you do watch, just want to know what you think about it or what your opinions are. Have to admit, the show can get a little frustrating (if you watch, you know what I'm talking about), I'm tempted to just download the last few episodes, the Christmas and Spring specials, and the 3 episodes of Love Hina Again. Hopefully I won't give in.

I've got a Christmas special burned on a disc somewhere. So you are saying it's worth the time to watch it? What's it about/like?

My favorite stuff I've found on the net so far is Cowboy Bebop and Ranma 1/2.

Have you seen any of the show, because the Christmas Special is close to the end and would probably give away a lot about the whole series.

Basically, love hina is a comedy. It's about this guy, Keitaro, who has flunked his entrance exam into Tokyo University 3 times, so his parents kick him out. His grandma tells him to come live with her at this place she owns, the Hinata Inn. When he gets there, she is gone and he finds out that the place has become a girls' dormitory. After some crazy hijinks that ensue from the girls thinking he's some perverted snooper, he runs into his aunt/cousin who lives there. She makes him the manager of the dorm. It's a huge place, but there are only 5 girls living there not counting Keitaro's aunt/cousin.

The reason he wants to go to Tokyo U. is because he made a promise when he was a little kid to a girl that they would both go there. He can't remember who she is, but he's still trying to keep the promise because he thinks it's fate he and this girl will end up together. The show centers around him living in the girls' dorm and his studies. The main theme is that he falls in love with one of the girls there named Naru. Most of the comedy comes from him ending up in comprimising situations with the girls in the dorm. Naru will think he's a perv and then kick his ass, so that he actually flys through walls and sometimes straight into the sky. Usually, he stumbles accross the girls while they are bathing in a hot spring in the back of the dorm.

It's kind of hard to explain it all, I wasn't sure what to think about it at first, but it grew on me pretty quickly. I recommend to anime fans that they check out at least the first 2 episodes. If you download it, it will probably be in japanese with subtitles written by a fan. But if you like what you see, then you can buy the DVD and see it in english.

I downloaded the fan subs last summer and I really enjoyed the series. Sure it can be a little frustrating, but I still found it worth the time to watch.

One of my friends who watches get the most anxious, I guess that rubs off on me. He'll yell, "Aww, come'on, when are they gonna kiss!!!" I get the feeling that people walking past the room, since we leave the door open, think that we're watching a soap opera.

My Japanese is pretty good so I enjoy the Japanese clips with english subtitles the most - that way I can pick up what I miss from the subtitles. It would be cool if there was a lending club where we could share the cost of DVD purchases by trading anime DVDs back and forth.

Where do you go to rent Love Hina? Thanks for the tip on the spoiler part - I'll avoid watching it then.

Actually, I have a friend in the dorm who is a big anime fan and has lots of extra cash because of his big scholarship, so he buys buys or orders pretty much everything he wants. I've never tried to rent anime, so I don't know what kind of DVDs are available at like Blockbuster.

Another new series I recommend is Hellsing. If you don't know, it's about a group, the Helsing orginization, that hunts vampires in England. The 2 main characters are this british girl, Sera who was swat team member but agrees to become a vampire so that another vampire can be killed. The other one is Alucard, he is a vampire and the main operative of Helsing. This guy is pretty damn cool. He dresses in a dark red suit with a coat and big hat and yellow sunglasses. He uses these two huge pistols that have "Jesus Christ is in Heaven" engraved on the side or he'll kill vampire zombies by just thrusting his arm through their body like a stake to the heart.
