So I'm now wondering about something. There seems to be a few football fans in this city, and there's a good chunk of 'em who wouldn't mind seeing the Oilers return to Houston. Plus, as sports fans, Houstonians typically operate on the "What have you done for me lately?" principle. So I have to ask the question. How much? In other words... Would you rather have a lousy Oilers team or a great Texans team? Now, by lousy, I mean 3-13 lousy to 5-11 lousy. And by great, I mean 12-4 great. 13-3 great. Me? Give me the Oilers.
Why why why couldn't have Houston kept the colors, logo, jerseys? Not fair. We could have pulled a Cleveland.
I wouldn't want to trade a bad team for another bad team. The memories can still be there, but the Oilers are in the past. Gimme a great Texans team. They are Houston's team now and my team now.
Clevleand hasn't been doing a whole lot with all that "history" behind them. Also, there wasn't a huge groundswell to keep the Oilers here, let alone their "colors".
I'm stripping away all the players and politics. No Andre Johnson, no Vince Young, no recognizable names. Just Oilers vs. Texans.
I can't answer the poll. I cared about the Oilers while they were here (and for a couple of years after) I care about the Texans. I wouldn't wish them away just to have the Oilers back (regardless of how good or bad either team is).. sooo yeah, no vote
Even if we kept the Oilers history we would still suck at this point. I guess Bob McNair can have nostalgia nights galore to suck even more money out of the poor saps known as the football fans living in Houston. The ghosts of Warren Moon, Bruce Matthews, Earl Campbell, Mike Munchak, et al. cannot rescue the current team from ineptitude.
I am going with awesome Texans. I like the Oilers colors but if no people are involved at all then they are just colors.
I love the Oilers...the colors, logo, luv ya blue feeling...but 3 win seasons is a bit much. Whats the fun in that, year after year. Winning 13 games a season, on the other hand, means that most Sundays, you are a happy camper...and you start your Monday in a good mood.
Give me an awesome Texans team and we can talk about it. Until that day, I am a fan of the team in baby blue.
look the Texans have been bad so all these "crushing" losses are nowhere close to the playoff disappointments that we got with the Oilers. When this team wins (and someday they will) everyone will get that "feeling" again. Yes I miss my Oilers but I try to say everyday that Bob McNair is a better owner and man than Bud and Bud has never won a super bowl so we have hope
Duhh. It depends on my QB. I didn't grow up in the luv ya blue days. I grew up with Moon and the Run and Shoot.
As someone who witnessed both... I have to go with the "great Texans" option because it's the only option we have now. I seriously hope the Jets beat the Titans this weekend, too. The best case scenario in the future will be the Titans get knocked out of the playoffs in the AFC championship game by the Texans on a replay reversed call. Poetic Justice of the Future, please get here soon!
