My wife dropped her diamond from the engagement ring in one of our neighbor’s lawn. She was walking our dog when I drove by and said hello to them. The dog was so excited by me that he suddenly run off from my wife, trying to chase me. Unfortunately, when he dragged the leash out of my wife's hand, he also dragged away the diamond. The diamond has a tiny piece of platinum attached to it. We have tried to use metal detector and flash light during the night but had no luck. Any thoughts on how to find the diamond?

so she was letting your dog do its business in your neighbors lawn. Nice. ;)

I'd say she got what she deserved.

if your neighbor is nice, use a weed eater and destroy that area of grass....

A tiny diamond in a lawn?
    Good luck
You will need a search party of 100 to go through there inch by inch with magnifying glass ... or ... make the dog find it..

I am sure that the weed eater will only make things worse. It will just probably displace the diamond. Gotta rip out the grass by hand. Just do it at night while nobody is looking ... blame it on a sudden outburst of grass fungus..just make sure to rip some grass out from all your neighbors lawns so it doesnt look like an isolated incident.

Sift through her lawnmower bag mulch. It may fly up in there during their next lawn cutting. I wouldn't count it out.

Map out a system of squares where she lost the diamond and search each square. Use a metal detector or maybe even a magnifying glass. I don't know how valuable this diamond was but you should be able to locate it.

Have you tried using a leaf rake to comb for it?

Is the Platinum pure or is it a coating on a piece of metal with magnetic properties?

Use a blower in vacuum mode and comb the suspect area, i.e. vacuum it (on high).

Then, look in the vacuum bag and there it is.

wow, this is a tough one. I think the best idea is just to just sit around the area and pick through the grass.. hopefully its about a carat or more to where its easier to find with the platinum piece.. and since it just rained on and off ... :-/

Look for it at night to see if you shine a flashlight and something sparkles back.

Get a large piece of coal, during the next NBA draft jam it between Morey's butt cheeks, you should get a flawless diamond at the end of the 2nd round.
