http://www.stfj.net/art/2009/loselose/ More at the link, including a video and the download link. I'm too busy to play it right now, but would anyone else like to give it a shot and post their impressions? Maybe try to beat the highscore, which is currently 4711 aliens?
It will actually delete random files from your computer? I don't understand why anyone would want to play such a game.
I actually didn't think anyone would really want to play the game...unless you wanted to show how hardcore you are. Just thought it was an interesting concept. Of course, you could always convince friends/family to play it, ideally tricking them into ignoring the warning messages. Hmm...might be a fun way to try to fix a computer full of viruses too.
So.....you took this game, and tried to pass it on the Clutchfans.net forum, never openly giving the slightest bit of warning in your post, hoping we would be stupid enough to actually play this game, leading to us getting files randomly deleted on our computer, leading to....? <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/2pIXxR8TBa4&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/2pIXxR8TBa4&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Interesting game* idea that was getting talked about elsewhere, so why not? *Of course, perhaps "art project" or something like that would be a more appropriate description. Obviously not designed to be a video game as we know it, replacing the "fun" we get from games with an entirely different feeling. I think it actually would be somewhat interesting to play, knowing the consequences that would result. Although that curiosity is definitely not enough for me to want to try it...except for maybe on my 4+ year old laptop that doesn't have any valuable data. I admit that I made my original post to appear that way, but that was done more so to emulate the sort of post that goes along with other popular flash games (or whatever). I was not concerned that anyone would actually play the game without realizing it might delete files from their PC. The quote I posted mentions this in giant bold letters, and I'm pretty sure there are several other warnings you'd get before you'd be allowed to play the game.
Actually, it is a good game, in premise, but horrifically consequential. I like the idea of building a character that can die, period. That said, I also think it is a waste of time. I enjoy video games from time to time, but the ones I get immersed with have a storyline and an ending. This non-ending stuff is played off better in a chat room, IMO.
