Lorenzen Wright would actually be a good fit for the Rockets. He has said publicly that the Grizzlies do not intend to re-sign him. Especially if the Griz have been saddled with Stromile's long-term deal, it looks like Lorenzen's days in Memphis are over. Remember, even with the "great" Stromile Swift on the team, Memphis routinely started Wright over him, primarily for Lorenzen's defense. He is a good post defender and a pretty good rebounder. And, from all reports, he will be relatively cheap. While he is 30, he could give the Rockets some of what they were hoping to get from Stromile last season. If the Rockets somehow lose out on getting Mike James with the MLE--or, better yet, if they can swing a S&T for James with our TPE--they should consider going after Wright as a "legitimate" PF/C to put next to Yao and to play backup C. Unlike most of the PFs being thrown around on this board, Wright could probably be had for a portion of the MLE. Thoughts?
I doubt Rockets will get a PF this offseason. They already have 3 PFs in Howard, Hayes, Nad Novak. Even if rockets got Wright, Howard would still see the majority of minutes, and if Wright played the remaining, Rockets would have any time to play the 4 with range (Novak). PF seems to be a lock for the Rockets this offseason.
