Man oh man! Its all coming together. I've been planning on moving to Boston for 2 years now to go back to school. The only 2 major things I have been waiting on are both finally resolved.

Yesterday, my friend called to tell me that she had found an apartment in Revere Beach. I don't know much about the area other than it was the first public beach in the nation. It sounds like the apartment is nice w/ hardwood floors and lots of space and the rent is dirt cheap!

Today, I got word that my student loans were approved! These two things were the biggest stresses in my life right now so I'm ecstatic today!!

My 2 brothers and I leave to drive across the country, from Portland, OR, in a little under 2 weeks! I'm so excited and I just can't hide it.

Any Bostonians on the board that can shed some light on Revere Beach for me?

The Revere Beach area is kinda ghetto. The city is so PO that they don't even have the funds to handle the garbage on the beach. Needless to say the beach is filthy and the water is ice cold. In addition, there are a lot of shady people hanging around there. Good luck.

I don't know anything about Revere beach but when I hear that rent is "dirt cheap" in the Boston area, I have to wonder.

Three years ago, my 2 bedroom apartment in Cambridge near Central Square cost $1650. This apartment had no parking, no AC, no dishwasher, no washer/dryer, we had to buy our own refridgerator and it was considered a good value.

    Good luck.

Yikes.. Well, it looks like I might be getting what I pay for. My friend over there is a realtor and she thinks its a nice place and a good deal. She is currently living in Mission Hill and doesn't like it very much. She at least says there is less crime in Revere Beach.. I guess I don't mind living "projectish" for a year or two while I'm going to school, but if its real bad, I might have to re-evaluate that. I'll keep y'all posted.

Thanks ROCKSS! I'm super excited about the move!
