I got accepted as an intern at disney. I'm a RHIM major I think they will have me doing some bartending and working the stands thats what I asked for. I don't really want to do an internship but it is an requirement so I figure why not get out of Lubbock this winter and hit beach. Because for some stupid reason you are not allowed to do it in Lubbock. And I think I'd be bored out of my mind if I came home to Houston to do an internship. It's going to suck leaving all my friends up here but I've heard it is a blast down there. They tell us that there are thousands of college students going down there this winter. So I figure there might be someone on this board that has done this is in the past. If so did you enjoy the experience?
I tried to get an internship there many years ago, but never heard from them. Maybe because I wanted to be one of the characters and not just someone who had to walk around the park sweeping up other peoples trash.
I don't see how any institution would consider it an "internship" to be a character at Disney.... Maybe if you're majoring in Sociology or something, but that's a HUGE maybe.
I know this was used last week, but.... Why didn't you just get a RHIM job? I have no effing idea what RHIM is, anyway...
Disney offers the same type of internship to my school. You acutally do get paid, but not much, and they won't cover your airfares and housing (although I do think they give you discounts). Not the best intern job, but since you have to do it anyway, might as well have some fun.
I remember seeing that some of the internships were sweeping the park and working at concession stands. That was about 20 years ago though.
Nawh not at all. Now if they trip up against baylor than I might get down Now the Astros are another story But I still believe I just figure Living in Florida doing an internship >>>>> Living in Houston with the parents doing an internship RHIM= restaurant and hotel institutional management. It's an fairly easy degree. You can get into sales with this degree which is what I want to do.
Take the trip up here to UF, it's only about an hour and a half away. I'll show you some good parties.
lol. Did they come to your school and make you believe that it would be your honor and privilege (?) to pick up trash there. It was hilarious.
Bout the same scam. Disney gets cheap, educated labor that can't leave versus some snot-nosed 16 year old from Orlando or Kissimmee. Allegedly a good resume builder, according to them.
Orlando is the gate to Hell. The nightlife is so-so. Working at Disney is no picnic according to some former Magic Kingdom alumni that work for my wife. The stories they tell are frightening. But I imagine the close-quarters syndrome will lead to plenty of opportunities for some action, especially with all those cute girls that work at Disney... But Orlando is so plastic that it drives me insane. I live about an hour and a half west of there in Indian Rocks Beach. The kids love Disney, but they know that Daddy hates going there. Even so, they've been three times since we moved to the Tampa area. It's like being treated to three or four hours of torture. Yes honey, I'll stay home with the baby. Take Preston and Elizabeth there, please! The geography of peninsular Florida is odd as well. In the coastal areas, the population is densely concentrated. But go inland, except for a few cities (Gainesville, Ocala and Orlando) right near the U.S. 27 corridor (most dangerous highway around. Been in nearly four dozen accidents on it because of all the damned oldsters and idiot truckers) and it is uninhabited. Completely devoid of anything except the most awful, backward, one-horse hell-holes. And orange groves. Lots of 'em. In the spring, you can smell the orange blossoms everywhere. Great smell. We drove back today from northern Georgia, no damage. Put the boat back in the water and cleaned up the palm fronds from my yard. At least it's nice and cool here as opposed to 98 degrees and 100 percent humidity as it was just a week ago. Ugh.
