Got in today around 4:00, it's good to be back on flat land where the sun still shines. God, we were lucky that we actually had a nice sunny day for my sister's graduation. I'm a little upset because we really should have only been there 4 days at the most, instead of 6. My dad just sucks ass when it comes to planning things. 6 days in Farmington and we didn't even attempt to check out Hartford. We wasted a whole day at my sister's school sitting in on traditional stuff that should have been for students only. At least some chick sang "It's Raining Men" for the departing seniors since they are mostly going off to coed schools. That was some funny shiznit.

I got to meet Bob Ley of Outside the Lines fame, his daughter graduated with my sister. He was real nice and told me Van Gundy was our man. I didn't talk to him very much since he was in "picture taking and daughter hugging/kissing/congratulating mode. We were real close to Bristol, could have checked out the ESPN studios, but again, my dad is terrible at planning things and making vacations fun for the family. Also, there's this stupid rule that says you have to be 25 to rent a car. I ask you, what is a recent college grad who works for a company that requires him to travel a lot supposed to do if he can't rent a car?

Well the rental car rule varies from state-to-state.

I find it absolutely ridiculous and absurd that there are different ages in different states.

From the rental car corporations' standpoint, I guess it helps on insurance/liability reasons, but it was state governments who implemented the rules.

So why do some states require you to be 20, 22, 23, or 25?

Someone else will have to answer that, but my guess is it has to do with safety, but do you really have to wait up to 9 years after starting to drive to rent a car in some states?

It's stupid, especially if you are 22 and you rent a car in, say, DC and you drive it up to NY where the age is higher.

    But anyway...

I assume this was a boarding school. That's cool that you met Bob Ley. I hear Hartford isn't anything special and since you never hear about touring ESPN Studios like you do CNN, sounds to me like it's nothing great either.

But hey, you got a change of scenery at least.
