There's so many choice out there, and the technology is improving day by day, I'm looking for a internal DVD burner, which one would you guys recommend me to buy? or which one should I definitely stay away from? $150 or under.............................. Thanks
I know. As of now, the fastest that DL can burn is at 2.4x-4x, and the the burn disc may not be very stable, and reliable, and also the DL DVD disc is quiet expensive, so for me, DL is not a big deal for me now, I can live without it.
Remember that DL media is pretty expensive. I'm waiting for the price of the media to come down before buying a DL burner. For now, I have a Dell DVD+/-R that I bought from newegg. No complaints, I've burned over 200 DVDs with it with nary a problem.
Go to Newegg and get NEC 16X Double Layer DVD±RW Drive, Beige, Model ND-3500A BG, OEM Dual layer. Great quality. Great speed. Great price. -- droxford
I recommend the NEC or LiteOn. I have the NEC 2500A that I firmware modded to dual-layer. Personally, I'm not overly impressed with my two Plextor drives. I have one CDRW and DVDRW. I think they had an incompatibility with my motherboard. But even if that weren't a problem, I still think there's no need to waste the money on them when the NEC and LiteOn do just as well/better for half the cost. Oh, and you can also find great deals at: http://www.slickdeals.net http://www.bensbargains.net
Was this firmware mod to alter a single-layer drive to a dual-layer drive easy to do? I have the NEC 2500A and I'm intrigued.
i have the links to change the firmware at home. i can email them to you (or post them on here) if you want..
Please post 'em. I downloaded the firmware mod, but haven't used it yet, and I don't remember where I got the firmware. -- droxford
I have questions about this. On some of the empty DVD disc media, it said that it can only support 1-4x, or up to 8x, but the DVD burner itself said can support up to 16x burning speed, so how fast will I burn? And What's DL good for?
I'm going to wait for the Plextor 716A to come out, which I think is impressive on paper, it will come out very soon.
i did it a while back, but if i remember correctly, i used the firmware from here http://tdb.rpc1.org/ heres a few different links with more info: http://www.cdrinfo.com/forum/tm.asp?m=66772&mpage=1&key=?? http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?t=25531&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=75 http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=91045&page=2&pp=25 i hope i dont get banned for posting this type of stuff
