Thoughts? My fiance wants me to buy one for our engagement photos. The cheapest I could find that, imo, doesn't look like crap is $200. While I don't have a problem spending that one something nice to wear, I just don't know if I'll ever wear it again. Anyone have a blazer that they wear often? Is it a good purchase?
You're gonna wear a blazer with like jeans or something? Why don't you just buy a Zara suit or check out suits at Off Saks (Katy Mills)? I'm sure you could get a blazer there too.
go to those fashionable thrift shops and find one cheap. theirs a handful of them on montrose (buffalo exchange, taxi taxi, etc)
Think of a blazer like a tie. Anytime you feel compelled to wear a tie to something, you should also probably be wearing a jacket, either a suit jacket as part of a suit or a sports coat that goes with your pants. Personally, my sports coats are indispensable, but I wear a coat and tie to work 5 days a week. If you want something that is versatile and can be worn in many settings, you can't go wrong with a plain navy blazer. Most blazers are not going to be terribly attractive on their own. They're all pretty much different versions of the same four or five styles. Blazers aren't meant to be the most impressive or unique item of clothing you are wearing. They dress up the other unique things you wear underneath them. You can go for a more casual blazer, which will look more fashionable, but it won't be as versatile. The nice thing about a classic, neutral blazer is that nobody is ever going to look at you and think "you're wearing THAT, again?" Trendier jackets are like trendy shirts, they make strong statements but you look like a dork if you wear the same cool thing over and over again. Instead, think about getting a classic blazer and focus on cool pants or jeans to go with it, a cool shirt, and maybe a nice tie.
I got this sport coat at Brooks Brother's. It's on sale. http://www.brooksbrothers.com/IWCat...&sort_by=§ioncolor=Blue§ionsize=#null
Sometimes I go out to eat at places that require you to wear a jacket. When that's the case I break out my blazer. It's good to have around for those times when I need it. I don't have to wear a tie every time I wear it. It doesn't happen too often, but a few times a year. Just look at it as one of those investments you have to make to have something basic that guys are supposed to have. Make the investment now, then rest content that you have one should you ever need one again in the future.
