Hey guys, I'm moving back to Houston since I can't find a job here in Austin. One of the things I'll really miss is making music. I am wondering if any of you guys have a band or play music, and are looking for a lead singer. Let me know.

There are actually quite a few musicians on this board. I play trumpet in a funk band called Global Village. We got a smokin' singer, though. Sorry.

Grrr... alright, but lemme know if you guys need backup or anything too. I love funk even though I have little experience doing it, but I think I can pull it off. So you guys do George Clinton-esque funk or something?

Sorry OMB. We've already got a singer. Currently, he's...well, let's just say he's working for the state at the moment. He gets out in December and we've got his spot saved.

We do 70's funk/dance covers. We mostly do private parties (more money) but occasionally we'll play clubs.

BBF, are you an original GV member? You guys have been around forever. I haven't seen you guys in years. Email me through the site if you want to make some extra money. Our horns keep busy so we're always looking for subs. Could've used you last weekend as a matter of fact. :)

I have been playing in and around Houston for almost 20 years. There are quite a few musicians on the board, most in bands or hired guns.

So how difficult is it for a musician to get set up in Houston? In Austin, it was pretty easy, I got to know a few bookers at the clubs, and it was very easy to find people to jam with. Man, I'm going to miss Austin.

This bbs is an excellent sounding board for just about everything. The people are brutally honest and caring, even when they think your stuff sucks. I have learned a lot from posting my bands mp3s and letting these guys tell me what they think. I have made what I thought were important changes based on the opinion of a fellow cc.netter.

    Um..like recording or listening?

Man...I just tried to start typing what I record and I didn't know where to start. Someone help me out here guys.

AS far as what I listen to...The Cd that's in my dash right now has the Proclaimers song from Shrek on it (I'm on my way), Constant Sorrow from that Clooney movie, A bunch of sh!tty rips from The Pirate Movie, some Wilco, All american Rejects, a couple of my songs that I haven't decided if they are done yet so I jam to them and contemplate, Great Big Sea's Mari Mac and rendition of End of the World, that's all I can think of.

Oh wait there's a couple Neil Diamond songs on it and some Hank Jr.

That pretty much sums up my listening habits as well.
