I'm trying to find free (or close to it) admissions to classical music events in town. From what I hear there's usually a concert at Cynthia Woods around this time of year with free lawn seats, but haven't seen this anywhere on their website.

My last resort is to get $15 "nosebleed" seats to Handel's Messiah by the Houston Symphony, but would look into other performances if anyone can suggest them.

Look into Rice's Shepard School of Music. There's a lot of cheap concerts there that are very good - year round.

Palmer Church on Main opposite Rice also has a highly educated choir, and they do a Messiah and evensong services. They also host touring acts that do sacred and chamber music through a group called Psalm. You can get your Bach on if you can Handel it. Check the website with a google.
