I'm looking for a new bed and mattress. It might be unlikely that I would get a great deal on both at the same location. My price range is on the medium side, which means I'm looking for something nice, that will last, but doesn't cost too much. I've been borrowing a friends air mattress and I would like to return it, before it wears out. Any recommendations?
My girlfriend keeps complaining about my bed. I guess I need to invest in a new one myself or go get the one her mother said I could bring to my house.
we got our mattress from Bubba's Beds in Tomball great prices .......better than Mattress Firm, Mattress Giant and Gallery
Speaking of mattresses...do normal garbage trucks pick them up if left by the curb? I've got an old queen size mattress that needs to be thrown out. I guess I could just let it fly on the soutwest freeway like everyone else.
Do they have those Temperpedic (sp?) ones? I'm looking for a queen size. Anyone own one of these Temperpedics? I've heard they are really comfortable and good for people with lower back problems. Of course, I "heard" it from their commercials. Just wondering if it's true or not.
I have one and it kicks @ss. My girlfriend has big lower back problems. It hasn't cured her or anything but she doesn't loose nearly as much sleep from back pain. Sincerely, I would recommend one to anybody if you are looking for a nice mattress. You do kind of sink into it and it is a bit strange at first but I love it.
I actually bought a bed from IKEA and got one of those mattresses that you unroll. I bought it for the price and convenience of bringing it home. I hated it at first and it took me about 2 weeks to get used to. But now I can't sleep on any other bed It's so comfortable. You can also choose the type of mattress you want. The set cost me 250 and its queen size. Can't beat such a deal
Costco has temperpedic type beds for about $500 I think. The generic term is visco elastic foam. The down side of the bed is it retains heat and some complain that it gets hot.
Bought my solid wood bed and pillow top mattress at Hilton's furniture. They were really nice and helpful and I am very pleased.
I need a bed that I can instantly fall asleep in. It's difficult falling asleep between 3 to 4 am, and then waking up at 7am, and going to work.
I tried one of those Select Comfort beds out, the better models cost 3K+ and it feels like you are sleeping on a cheap blowup mattress (i.e. when you move to one side the air moves to the other and bulges up) It wasn’t the right bed for me... Swilkins I do have some advice though, if you happen to like a very firm bed try to find a mattress with a firm and densely packed top while staying with middle of the road coils in terms of firmness.. The problem I had was finding a nice mattress as firm as possible, when I did the foam over the coils is not the same as it was a few years ago, now all the Simmons Beauty Rests are made of that memory foam stuff layered with some of the old foam and it breaks in very quick leaving me with a VERY VERY firm bed. I got my mattress from Mattress Giant and they were nice enough to let me return the set because I wasn’t very happy with it so I decided to upgrade to the “best” mattress on the floor, but I didn’t figure out my mistake until after I broke the second mattress in.. I now have very high end mattress that is way to firm for me and only 6 months old.. I've had to buy an extra 3 inch memory foam topper to make the mattress comfortable to sleep on.. I think if I had to do over again I would have just bought one of those foam mattresses because this topper thing is super nice, but now my mattress is soooo thick it can barely keep the deepest sheets on with out them wanting to come off..
I've got a select comfort bed, and I'd gladly replace it for a regular mattress. The novelty wears off, and in the end I regret that I spent so much on a freaking air bed. Mine is a pillowtop queen and it cost 1600 bucks. Oh well, live and learn.
i agree with the above. when you first get it there is a funky smell which fortunately goes away. it did take some geting used to but the wife and i love it. my children even have them but they don't care one way or the other. my buddy is in the business and he says people tend to love them or hate them so there is risk involved. as far as heat retention, i haven't found it to be a problem, so it's a total thumbs-up from me. don't know anything about the knock-offs. i think the material that tempurpedic uses is patented so i can't tell you how close other brands might approximate it.
For a regular mattress and bed, I have always had success at Southwest Mattress, located at Fondren & Richmond.
