I'm looking for a higher end consumer mini dv camcorder and I was wondering if anyone could share any thoughts that might be helpful. I can't say that I will always have good lighting but that mostly will not be a problem. I've got my eyes on the Sony DCR-HC96 Handycam.
the Canon Elura 100 is fantastic. Works great...even in low-light situations and is amazing for the price.
www.gottadeal.com is a good place to start. Dell has many good deals too. What is "high end" about the camera you want and what important features are you looking for?
While we're on the subject, does anyone know of a place that'll rent out mini-DV camcorders? I have a mini-DV cassette I'm trying to convert into a DVD with menus, chapters, etc.. and just need the camcorder to upload the video to the computer. Couldn't justify purchasing a camcorder for this alone, though I'm sure somewhere down the road it might be useful again.
