For those of you who are HOME THEATER and PROJECTOR connoisseurs, are these good deals? Optoma GT700 1280 x 800 DLP 3D 1080P Gaming and Home Entertainmen Projector built-in Speakers 2300 ANSI Lumens 2500:1 Or is this one better? Optoma HD66 DLP 3D Ready Home Theater Projector 2500 ANSI Lumens 4000:1 - audio out capable My budget to purchase a projector for a large room is ~ $850 and I am looking for something with HDMI capabilities, while having a good image and features like low power consumption, brighter image, good resolution, low replacement lamp cost, etc. Please help a SwoLy Clutchfan brotha out.
I do not want a used one, but... ummm, now that you mention it, we will probably play a How to Make Your own Churros at Home HIGH DEFINITION video to inaugurate its use, sir.
The HD66 is basically the old HD65 with 3D ready capabilities, I've had the Optoma HD65 for over a year, and its been great, great colors, and plays all my hi-def stuff, best 720p projector in the market imo. It's very small, but noisy. I heard some people were getting it for like $419 at best buy.
^^ Thanks for that info. How can I get that same projector for that low of a price? Is that even advertised? I don't want to have to "upgrade" when Blu-ray and HD stuff has already panned out the 720p stuff. Should I get a 1080i/p projector now, or stay with a 720p one? Will it make that much of a difference?
Any of the 720p projectors will be able to display 1080i, they will even downsize 1080p to 720p. That being said there is very little difference between 720p and 1080i, except in scenes with lots of motion, in which 720p looks smoother. I would stick with 720p for your budget
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1230908 This is where I was reading about the low price, seems like Best Buy has very few left, and they're trying to sell them About upgrading to 1080p, I have a 1080p set in the family room, and although the resolution looks better than my projector, you can't beat a 100" image. I play blurays and 1080p rips on the projector and I'm more than pleased with the quality
A great place to search for projectors, and related, is www.projectorcentral.com I am currently working on a project where I have specified four of these: http://www.digitalprojection.com/Br.../ProjectorId/120/MarketTypeId/10/Default.aspx Two of them are stacked for the main screen which is 30' wide (60,000 lumens total on that screen) with one each for the side screens (6,500 seat performing arts center)
I'm in the market for a projector also. I think it depends on what is important to you. For example, my media room is not that big. It's like a bedroom. So the quietness of the projector is very important to me. Without sacrificing image quality, I think Mitsubishi is the way to go
I was commissioned by someone who knows NOTHING about projectors, and I know maybe 50% of the stuff you experts know. I know about the distance, resolution, lumen, inputs, and contrast ratio, but don't have experience buying one. This projector will be probably showing the image from the lens at probably 20' distance onto the screen. The person who asked me to buy it for them is someone who owns a hall and they want it for displaying a slide show of a wedding, QuinceaƱera, etc., for receptions. Thanks for the words of advice, dudes. magman... that sounds pretty good...
